You do you, parents

Kyle was obsessed with this cornbread. I think it’s because I used dairy in it.

Anyway, we had the leftovers from this meal with sausage and a “cheesy” green bean dish.

The sausages were WF brand (organic chicken apple) which I broiled in the oven for a few minutes. The green beans were steamed before I added a macadamia nooch sauce that I had in the freezer (leftover from I don’t remember when). It was a riff off of the recipe from a modern way to cook.

I thought the green beans were good, but the kids were NOT fans.

I’m not sure what the deal was!? I think for P it was a texture thing? Honestly who knows. V likes honey mustard in other circumstances so I don’t know why this was met with such hostile reactions. Alas, they can’t all be winners. So I just ate the rest myself.

I’ve mentioned it before, but I’ll say it again. I’m not one to force them to eat something if they don’t like it. They aren’t picky eaters and I want them to feel like they can be honest and trust me with their opinions. I think it’s important to use small situations like this to build a solid trusting relationship with each other. Also, they aren’t toddlers any more, so it’s not a communication / behavioral battle. If they’ve tried it and they don’t like it, that’s a valid enough reason. [Again with the disclaimer: they like 99% of the things I make. If they were refusing half the food I gave them I may have a completely different take. Parenting is an individual sport. You do you!! I support you!]

Whatever. Here’s how it all looked the next day as leftovers.

And then the kids’ lunches.
