While dad’s away…

The mouse will play wake up at 530 am, boycott afternoon naps, and refuse to be more than two feet from me at any point in time.  Oh and throw dinner in my face.  Literally.

This post took all week to write.  I started uploading some pics on Monday and next thing I know it’s Friday and I’m not much further along.

Truthfully, I love when we snuggle so I cherished the time together, but it also hit 110* on Monday so there was a definite excess of stir crazy going on while we escaped the heat indoors.  His fussiness peaked on Wednesday but then the rest of the week was much better.

Pack n play ball bit…that he didn’t like one bit.

I see two more teeth on their way so that’s likely the main issue, but we have nap wars going on simultaneously so that’s a whole other ball of wax. [And when I say “wars” I mean between P and himself…not me]

Here’s what I did (and the food I ate) while we were trapped indoors on Monday.

Breakfast

The yolks of these eggs are intensely vibrant no?  When I first cracked them into the pan they almost looked orange.  Like I mentioned before, I got them from my friend (her parents’ chickens are going crazy and she has 27 dozen eggs to unload).  I took 3 dozen off her hands. 🙂

They are pastured so I guess this is what the yolks of happy, bug-eating chickens look like.  They have tons of farm land to roam about freely so I’m thinking I’ll be buying my eggs from her from now on.  They tasted great and cost a fraction of what I paid for organic pastured eggs in Santa Monica.  I still can’t believe how much more things cost in LA.  I miss the good restaurants in So Cal, but I love living so close to farm land here in Nor Cal for this exact kind of access.

I fried a couple and paired them with a piece of leftover peachy cornbread.

Lunch

You can’t tell the size of this but it was HUGE.  I mixed 1/2 an avocado in to the rest of the tuna salad that I made on Sunday and served it over greens (TJ’s southern blend) and carrots.  Oh and I finished off the kettle chips.  That salty goodness is too much.

Dinner

Leftovers in the form of salad and cornbread.

The greens were tossed with BBQ chicken thigh meat, avocado, and balsamic vinaigrette.  The cornbread is officially donezo.

Following quiet time I did all the errands and house keeping crap I didn’t get done during the day…and suddenly it was time for bed.

I had chocolate for dessert though, obviously.

Tuesday was more of the same.  I didn’t have as much energy to make breakfast, so TJ’s frozen GF waffles stepped up.

They’re decent as far as frozen things go. Cinnamon and eggs made a sweet and savory combo.

For lunch I had a few bowls of the brussels slaw salad.

It was hard to stop.  I wanted all of it.  But I managed to save some for the next day.

I can’t recall what I had for a snack because I didn’t take a pic but I’m sure it was shoveled down way too quickly.

Dinner was pasta salad with veggies galore and salmon.  I was so glad to have this ready to go because I got home supah late after P and I hit up music classes on Tuesday.  So after I did his bedtime routine, I basically dunked my face in the vat.  The fridge door was barely closed before the first bite was in my mouth.

Once again, I did the chocolate thing on the late night.  I need more chocolate.  We are always running out.  I

Oh my gosh those eggs look amazing! I need to get some pastured eggs ASAP!

What a great resource for eggs! The yolk color does depend on what the chicken eats and generally darker more orangey colored ones are desirable.
That sounds like a really exhausting week! Hopefully the teeth come in quickly so he can get back to sleeping and naps. And the heat in davis can be brutal this time of year- the only upside is never having to use a hair dryer 🙂
