[This is an old post I just found in my drafts…oops!]
For the first time in…hmm…maybe a year? I took a kid grocery shopping with me. The kids hate grocery shopping (who doesn’t) and so ever since they started school (you know, wayyyyy back in 2019 when school was in-person and I had some time to myself), I would go without them. Then covid hit and solo shopping became a requirement for a whole other reason. But a few weekends ago V made the trek with me (I never thought she’d call my bluff when I offered but alas).
As a result I wound up buying so many random things NOT on my list. Soooo helpful. [eyeroll]
I was so done with life at the time I said yes to far more than I would have normally, although I did draw the line at a second watermelon.
Anyway, the point of that intro was to share that this was my first time buying shishito peppers because V was “dying to try them”.
I love it when we all try things for the first time together!
I sautéed them in sesame oil and salt and that’s it.
I also roasted chicken thighs and Brussels and then served that with the peppers and some leftover pasta pomodoro.
As you can see, this meal was SUPER random because we were in fridge clean out mode. [Because we were going to Hawaii]
I’m not sure any of us really loved the sautéed peppers, but it was fun to try something new initiated by V none the less.
When was the last time you tried something new and what was it?
So young and already a foodie 🙂 I can see why she wanted to try them though – shishitos are so little and cute.
Our produce box surprised us with fingerling limes last summer, and they were really fun! Hadn’t expected that. Like little fruity pop-rocks.
fun! ive never tried those!
