One of the best things about getting Hulu this summer was that we were able to watch Padma’s show Taste the Nation.
We are all big Top Chef fans – we let the kids watch the most recent All Stars season with us – so of COURSE we wanted to watch Padma explore various cultures via their food and learn about their history. Such a great show for adults and kids alike. I also think exposing them like this sparks the desire to try all the things they are seeing.
Which is how we came to googling kebab places in Davis!
Which is how we came to discover a new kebab place opened just before the shelter in place order (back inMarch) right down the street from us! [Talk about bad timing for them]
We vowed to try it the very next weekend (they are only open Fridays and Saturdays).
And so we did!
It’s called Stand Up Kabob, and they have an outdoor patio space if you wanted to eat there (although we ordered ours to-go).
We ordered pretty much everything on the menu to share, including chicken and beef kabobs, chicken plate, extra veggies, and aash reshteh.
Kyle and I loved it!
The kids were not huge fans of the chicken, but devoured everything else.
Which meant I got the leftover chicken the next day for lunch!
I paired it with a southwestern salad, with cabbage, kale, and carrots massaged in a cilantro ranch dressing, topped in avo and chips.
Highly recommend both the show AND trying new places! We order take out next to never, but every time I do it I say I’m going to do it more. Now I’m committing it here for all the internet to read and hold me accountable, ok?
You are held accountable! Never hurts to splurge!
