Guess what finally opened!!! Tender Greens’ new Santa Monica location! I have been waiting for this for quite some time (remember last week when I tried to go and it wasn’t open yet?). While I was thrilled to learn that it was opening this past weekend, I was sad that it happened while I was away in NYC. Naturally I made a beeline for the place as soon as we got back in town. 🙂 I took Kyle and my girlfriend Lauren with me. Lauren got the Harvest salad with Organic Fruit, Artisan Cheese, Local… Read more >

Nine Eleven. Wow. A decade gone by. I don’t think anyone will ever forget where they were on that fateful day in 2001. I was about to start undergrad at UCLA. Several years later, on Sep 11th, I moved to Philly for RN school . And then exactly one year later, again on Sep 11th, I moved to NYC. Easy to remember? Or impossible to forget? And that’s not the only thing that made headlines on this Sep. 11th…Serena’s rant at the US Open finals was another news maker. And it was the season opener… Read more >

As Kyle and I headed to dinner on the eve of September 11th, the sky was illuminated with a beam of light where the twin towers once stood. It was both eerie and inspiring and when I saw it I thought of each person who’s life changed that day. I know that this post is from last week (and therefore old news), so I won’t share my reflections on 9/11, but it was a very patriotic weekend to be in NYC. If there were a way to feel proud and somber at the same time,… Read more >

I haven’t been to Italy since the summer after I graduated high school (I’m not going to mention the year), but I have a very vivid recollection of my time there. It helps that I kept a psychotically detailed journal, too (complete with meal selections and hilarious commentary on my family’s travel shenanigans). Evidently I was a blogger (without a blog) long before the days of facebook and twitter. Anyway. I’m getting off topic. Walking into Eataly was like entering a European marketplace. Do you want to eat or do you want to… Read more >

After a wonderful morning of sleeping in, running in the park, and brunching at Joe, I headed downtown to pop into my old office. I just wanted to say hello to some of my friends from work. And by “office”, I mean hospital. And by “some of my friends” I mean two people. Because almost everyone else has quit since I left. I had been texting with them the days leading up to my trip, so I knew they’d be working that day…but I didn’t anticipate anyone else caring that I was coming… Read more >
