Rustic Canyon

A few nights ago Kyle and I went to dinner with another couple at Rustic Canyon.  It’s less than a hundred steps from our apartment. I did what I usually do when I’m going to be dining with others at a non-vegan restaurant and called ahead of time to make sure (a) they were able to accommodate my diet, (b) the chef was aware of what veganism is, and (c) the staff was comfortable in helping me navigate the menu.  This may seem annoying or impolite, but if you approach it the right way, it’s… Read more >

RFD hits and misses

It took me 3 hours to decide on what to order from Real Food Daily. It’s hard!  There are raw dishes that bring me to an infant-like drool state, as well as comfort meals that make me feel all warm and cozy inside.  Gah!  What to choose?? 111111

I know all the other number nerds out there appreciated the date today as much as I did.  To the rest of you, happy Friday.   Kyle and I got take-out from The Veggie Grill since I had a birthday coupon that was days away from expiring.     Free entree, what what! The salad has marinated kale and red cabbage, roasted corn salsa, agave-roasted walnuts with a ginger-papaya vinaigrette. … Read more >

Restaurante Almanara – Alameda de Hércules, 85, 41002 Sevilla They have authentic Spanish cuisine in a classy setting, with options from soups & salads, to soy meatballs and seitan.  La Huelva Ocho – C/ Huelva, 8, 41004 Seville Live flamenco with drinks and tapas… Read more >

Rove, Steve, Lake, Eva

Are you completely confused by the title? Let’s start from the beginning.  Kyle and I celebrated us both having a free day off this week (we also kinda made it my faux birthday since Kyle will be in Vegas for the real deal).   I made vegan and GF pancakes for me (above), and grits with a fried egg on top for Kyle (below).   I added some of Follow Your Heart’s vegan sour cream to it at the end, which offers a tangy, creamy kick.    After breakfast (and coffee) I went for a run. … Read more >
