A Native reward

Kyle and I had a date last weekend at Native Foods.  Again.  I love love love this place and so even though we swore we wouldn’t spend money going out to eat when we had so much food to finish off before moving, we got an invitation from friends (they picked Native Foods!!) and so we took it as a sign couldn’t turn it down.  So here’s the thing.  I’ve used the restaurant’s rewards card every single time we’ve gone and never gotten anything.  We’ve been the Palm Springs location, the Culver City location, the… Read more >

More Nor Cal love

For the first time since we arrived in Nor Cal, Kyle was able to sleep in spend the day with me (and not working). Sleeping in is a thing of the past. I made Kyle breakfast first while he got in some baby time.  He misses P so much when he’s gone. That toast I made him is Semifreddi’s sour batard.  One of the best breads in the Bay Area in my opinion. My breakfast was later because I was working on my dandy tea (still no GI upset with it, so that’s good). In… Read more >

The weekender

That’s the name of the meal I ordered at brunch on Saturday.  Kyle’s parents took us to Real Food Daily, my favorite breakfast spot in Santa Monica.  I love this place so much I’ve stopped linking to it on my restaurants tab because I’ve been at least a dozen times.     My plate’s the one on the upper left. It has two (gluten free) pancakes, scrambled tofu (with onions, tomatoes, & cashew cheese), tempeh bacon, and hash browns.  Holy breakfast right? You can choose between fruit or hash browns (can’t say no to fried taters!)… Read more >

We ate out!

I know this is not really newsworthy (or title-worthy, for that matter), but since we’ve been on a strict grocery budget we have avoided the restaurant scene to save some cash flow.  For a foodie (like me), this is sad.  So this weekend we made the most of our sitch. On Saturday we headed to Seed Bistro for lunch.  We had a little bit of money left on a gift card, so one of our meals was free.  Budget not blown, stomach happy.  Win win! Kyle got the sirloin seitan burger (same thing he always… Read more >

La Boulange in Lafayette

Here’s the festive Christmas scene at La Boulange in Lafayette.  They have several stores, actually, all across the Bay Area – including several in SF and Marin.  As I mentioned in a previous post, the place reminds me of LPQ.  They both give off the casual European bakery vibe, while making your tongue wag at the display case of delicious pastries.    Oh, and if you want a bowl of coffee the size of your face, La Boulange is where’s it’s at!!  I will definitely be going back once I’m back on the java… Read more >
