Tempeh is…hearty, nutty, and packs your meal with oomph. And it’s ridiculously simple to sub in your regular recipes in place of meat. Like instead of ground beef in tacos.  Or Bolognese in lasagna.  Or chicken in a wrap.  Or tuna in a sandwich.  Or meat in a stew.  You get the idea…it’s a very versatile food.    Belly warming.  Heart healthy.  It’s tempeh time! Savory madness

If there are typos in this post it’s because I’m running on 1/8th a tank.  I just worked three night shifts in a row (not pretty) and now I’m attempting to write and bake a new gluten free bread following no recipe.  We will see how this post turns out soon enough, but I’ll have to wait ‘til tomorrow to see how the bread tastes. In the meantime, I’m going to attempt to make a savory oat believer out of the 50% of you who still refuse to give it a shot.   C’mon, doesn’t… Read more >

Meatout Monday

Did you know that meatout is the world’s largest grassroots diet education campaign?    And every year, on March 20th thousands of people encourage their friends, families, and communities to "kick the meat habit” and explore a wholesome, compassionate diet of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.  The campaign started back in 1985 and has grown tremendously since then.  Check out the success they had in 2011!  The 2012 goal of meatout is to distribute free vegan food samples to 30,000 people.    My own personal goal in promoting a plant based diet is proving that… Read more >
