Goat Cheese Manicotti

My sister sent me a guest post without any prodding from me – clearly blogging runs in our blood.  As I’m sure you’ve gathered in Elise’s previous blogs, as kids one of our (or at least my) favorite meals was manicotti.  Its also one of the first dishes I learned to cook as my mom would "let" us mix and stuff the shells (I’m pretty sure looking back on it now it was a ploy to get us to help out in the kitchen, but I guess it worked – take notes, Elise!). Anyway, since… Read more >

Bananaberry Crumble bread

Can you believe I made this a while ago but only just got around to trying it? I know that sounds insane but it was purely due to the move.  I hated the idea of blueberries and greek yogurt going to waste, so I decided to bake with it.  Transporting a couple of frozen loaves of bread is way easier than berries and yogurt individually. It may seem like I’m obnoxiously frugal cheap, but organic blueberries are not inexpensive.  Plus I don’t like the idea of waste.  I’m the girl that takes home the last… Read more >

Pumpkin Butter Grain Free “Granola”

This isn’t the first time I’ve made a grain free granola (aka no-grain-nola).  You can see the non recipe for that one here.  [Side note: I should really re-make that and measure things for you guys because it was good!] Anyway, this was another winner.  I swear I’m going through granola by the pound.  Daily. I made this mostly because I had a jar of pumpkin butter in the fridge that needed to get consumed before we made the trip up to Davis.   Who has this pumpkin butter?  It’s from Trader Joe’s and as… Read more >

Mushroom “meatloaf”

I think people come here for photos of P more than recipes now.  I don’t blame you!  I think he’s the most adorable little guy, too.  But I still feel inclined to post about food because that’s why I started HHH in the first place.  In any event, here’s a good one to hold you all over.  🙂 Lately his smiles are less random and more often the result of us making faces and interacting with him and it makes my heart melt. I can only imagine how amazing things are going to get from… Read more >

Celebrate Soyfoods Month

I didn’t know that April was soyfoods month until a week ago.  That gives me another 15 days to celebrate.  I like tofu, so easy peasy. Truthfully, the various food holidays kinda make me roll my eyes most of the time.  There’s one (or more) every single day – like grilled cheese day, which was last week.  But we get to honor soy all month long!  Way better than smashing it into 24 hours. So while I usually avoid making recipes exclusively to showcase holidays (my blog is more “here’s what I ate” than “here’s… Read more >
