Sweet potato banana chia porridge

Not quite a smoothie, not quite oatmeal, this is what we will call porridge.  It’s hard to describe but you are going to want to make this ASAP for sure.  It’s what I’ve had for breakfast all week and I’m probably going to make it again as soon as I’m out. It is like chia pudding meets banana bread meets yogurt.  Weird, right?  Let me try again.  It’s like a chilled sweet potato pie, that you can top with whatever you want and call breakfast. Because things in jars are acceptable breakfast fare, right?  Sure…. Read more >

Another rice recipe

Two recipes in one week!  When the kitchen mojo strikes you have to grab hold and ride the wave!  Talk about mixing metaphors.  Whatever, you get the idea.  I was feeling inspired when we got back and made up another dinner that I wanted to share. The star of the menu is Nom Nom Paleo’s lemon date sauce. If you recall I made it here.  It’s from Ready or Not, the cookbook I have mentioned the most so far this year.  If you don’t have the cookbook yet what are you waiting for!?! Anyway, I… Read more >

Lemony kale brown rice

Oh my goodness, these vacation posts are never ending!  We are back now, and I am getting life sorted out. We went… Read more >

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the olive oil and maple syrup.  Then add the nuts and stir them (a lot) so that every nook and cranny is coated.  Leave them for 3-5 minutes and then toss again.  Let them… Read more >

Living like it’s winter

Now that I’ve had Nourish bread I can’t go back to regular bread!! This time I topped it with almond butter.  I felt full after, but not weighed down or roll-me-to-the-couch-I’m-stuffed.  I was feeling pretty lazy though, truth be told, which I attribute to the grey skies.  Even though I went on a bike ride that morning, I was still lacking motivation to leave the house for church.  I don’t think I could ever live outside of CA again. You can’t tell how much squash is in here from the photo, but it is a… Read more >
