I’m loving how much [free] produce I have access to living in the ‘burbs (slash farm country). My garden is going bonkers, but I’m also reaping the benefits of others’ prolific gardens. The peaches were a gift from a former patient’s family. The lemon cucumber (??) and melon are from Kyle’s work shop’s owner’s fields (along with an unpictured zucchini the size of my leg). And then there’s the cabbage and peppers that I’m currently fermenting…fingers crossed! Since we don’t have cable, we are big into Amazon prime and Netflix instant streaming. Has anyone… Read more >

Hey! I’m alive! Ish. This week was crazy. [Life is crazy] So many emotions. Adjusting to working again after maternity leave is one thing. Adjusting to a new hospital and orienting to the new unit environment is another. And adjusting to spending the day away from my love is yet another. All these changes require me to be flexible and cool with change, which isn’t my strong suit. I’m a creature of habit with a bit of OCD mixed in (what nurse doesn’t have OCD/Type A tendencies, tell me that). Sometimes this is a good… Read more >

We’ve hit a road block hiccup (fingers crossed?) in the sleeping schedule and I’m too tired to post much. My little man rung in his 4th month with some crankiness and of course it aligns with me going back to work so I have huge amounts of mommy guilt going on…in addition to the normal desperation of trying to figure out what’s wronggggggg? Isn’t it funny how parents ask their infants that knowing full well a response is out of the question. Anyway. He’s still an exceptionally happy baby so I’m sure it’s just… Read more >

5:30 am: I hear P on the baby monitor and wake up. I watch him for a bit trying to determine if his fussing is real or not. I go to the bathroom and by the time I come back to bed he’s back asleep. So I go back to sleep too. 7:00 am: The fussing is back and this time I know he’s waking up for real. Since Kyle’s already headed into the shop, showering is now or never, so I get up and the day begins. 7:03 am: Shower is done. I throw… Read more >

I’ll make this brief since this is what I’m up against… Hippie tip #1: Buy and sell (or give away) used moving boxes on craigslist before and after you move. Earth friendly and cheap. Here we are in our (old) backyard with a passed out babe and movers schlepping patio furniture. P was clearly not stressed out by the packing process. On the contrary, he slept probably 30 of the 36 hours that we were transitioning from one home to the next. He just looooves being held, and since we had no furniture… Read more >
