The rest of the trip after Legoland was low key…back to the pool and hot tub scene with some nap time in between. P built a model T-rex while V slept in the other room.
I ate a quarter of the kids’ sando with a chicken salad that I bought at the hotel’s “marketplace” store. It’s also where I bought the above granola, which I had for breakfast. Their selection of gluten free snacky goodies is amazing, but they are marked up 200% because they know suckers will pay for it. The good news is we get two free coffees every day, so I feel like that balances it out a bit?
We ventured to a new spot for dinner. I was in the mood for fish and Kyle was in the mood for Mexican…soooo…fish tacos!!
I got the kids their own fish plates, which came with two sides each.
V got salmon with veggies and macaroni salad.
P chose mahi mahi with rice and seaweed salad.
I couldn’t decide between salmon and mahi mahi so I got mahi mahi and planned on stealing or trading bites with both kids…turns out the salmon was way better, which is why I was actually kinda happy that they messed up Pattycakes’ order and gave him salmon by mistake.
And apparently I didn’t take a picture of mine, but I chose TWO servings of the seaweed salad and holy moly was that ever a TON of seaweed. It was sooooo delicious, but I still couldn’t eat more than one bowl. P was obsessed with his though, and was adamant I take it home (despite me telling him we were leaving the next day).
Kyle got his tacos. But more importantly, was our stop on the way home…
For chocolate. 🙂 Kyle had a major craving that needed to be addressed…and since I can’t watch someone else eat chocolate without having any myself, I got some goodies too.
All kinds of yum.
The next morning we squeezed in a bit of pool time before we hit the road. Amazingly, BOTH kids fell asleep on the way to get food, which worked out nicely since we had a 1 1/2 hour drive to the airport right after. So we just ate our smoothie bowls in the car while they snoozed away!
Couldn’t leave SD without one more chocolate hero from Choice Juicery!!
When they woke up, we were at the Long Beach Airport, but they were starving, so we swing by a grocery store to get food for the plane. P wasn’t letting us board without finishing his darn seaweed salad though…
Travel gets easier and easier as they get older (and I give in to media!).
I thought they would be totally hooked on screens after our vacation, but they haven’t mentioned tv or anything since we’ve been home, so that’s a relief.
And we made it back just in time for THANKSGIVING with the fam!
