Kyle’s company’s lawyers decided to have a zoom wine and cheese pairing for their clients (probably because they weren’t meeting in person to shmooze with the rounds of golf or whatever), and as eye-roll inducing as I personally found this to be, I was also quite happy to be on the receiving end of the tastings.
We got a bottle of sparkling vino from Iron Horse delivered a few days before the event so we could get it properly chilled.
And then the day before, we got a shipment of several cheese from Point Reyes (and other local nibbles – dried figs, seasoned almonds, salami, crackers, etc).
Plus a cool engraved cheeseboard with new knives.
I don’t like bleu cheese so I didn’t even bother trying them, but Kyle was a big fan. V and P even got in on the action!
V liked the original house made date spread (which is a combo of bleu cheese, cream cheese, shallots, and dates) the best, but I think she actually liked all the bleu cheeses. P wasn’t as into them and gave them a so-so ranking.
The toma and the gouda, however, were big hits for us all.
I tuned out the corporate talk and eventually left to do stuff with the kids, but the leftovers have been a delight to enjoy.
Do you like bleu cheese?
I have to tell my husband this idea! He’s not traveling and seeing customers right now either and he was thinking of something like sending lunch to them and then doing a zoom meeting while they eat, which is something he typically does. Love this.
Yes, I love blue cheese, especially Roquefort. So yummy! I was missing certain restaurant food recently, so we made hearts of romaine salads with blue cheese dressing topped with roquefort crumbles and candied hazelnuts.
We actually used vegan blue cheese dressing but the crumbles were authentic. Worked perfectly 🙂
Haha I actually think this is quite a fun idea/alternative to Friday afternoon drinks! And yes, I love all cheese but definitely blue cheese as well!
