Where to buy squash noodles

Part of the fun of being in the East Bay last weekend was going to WF.  I got to stock up on fun things like spiralized squash, which I’d never had the patience to tackle with my own appliance.  I can do zucchini, but when it comes to sweet potatoes and carrots and butternut squash, I think I’d rather just pay more to have it done for me. Which you can!  If you live near a fancy enough store.  Sadly, Nugget is not there yet…further reminding me of why Whole Foods still holds that special… Read more >

Mid week prep

I was away from my kitchen this weekend so I had no time to prep.  So now I’m making it happen mid week…squeezing stuff in here and there between naps and after bedtimes and whatnot. I hadn’t added granola yet to their bowls, and then by the time I got to that and the almond milk the blueberries were gone!  Sneaky little berry eaters. I made this granola, per usual.  They’d been asking for it after a couple of weeks of pancakes and oatmeal. Actually it wasn’t oatmeal that I made last week, but rather… Read more >

Tilden to start

I can’t put into words exactly why this weekend was so awesome, but it really was THE MOST FUN I’ve had in a long time.  It was relaxing and mellow and I got to hang out with friends and family, including my sisters and their husbands and my kids and husband A LOT without any schedule or agenda.  It felt super indulgent.  I think being away from home but still in a super familiar place (my parents’ house) contributed.  But my parents weren’t even there!  So it was like a mini vacation!? Pool lyfe. Saturday… Read more >

Reasons I haven’t posted

I’ve basically been eating this lasagna on repeat. It is REEEEALLY good.  So good I’ve been eating it for lunch instead of salads and not giving any of the leftovers to the rest of my family.  I feel a little bad about it, but sometimes I’m bad at sharing and what my family doesn’t know won’t hurt them.  The kids don’t know they are missing out on the extra portions and I pack Kyle’s lunches so he’s probably forgotten about it (but maybe not)…soooo, leftovers for me! Cold or hot, I don’t even care, it’s… Read more >

Arugula and TJs products

My blog is turning into a “how to use” x, y, z ingredient from Trader Joe’s. Here’s my newest favorite. And here’s how to use it. This recipe started when I went to the freezer in search of something to make for dinner.  I offered the kids the option of salmon or shrimp and they couldn’t agree (of course) so we compromised on salmon first and shrimp later. I thawed the salmon while they did crafts at the table. Other key ingredients for this dinner include… Roasted walnuts. And lentil pasta – another TJs winner… Read more >
