National Toast Day

I know, I know avocado toast is sooo 2017. BUT I have a new favorite combo that’s been on breakfast rotation and I needed to tell you about it. Just in time for National Toast Day. šŸ˜› Have you ever heard of Little Northern Bakehouse? They make vegan AND gluten free bread. That’s not an easy combo because so many GF products rely on eggs, and yet, this bread is THE SOFTEST. It’s actually spongy rather than crumbly (you know how certain GF breads tend to turn into crumbs as you bite into them). Little… Read more >

Low battery

Kyle is really benefiting from all these leeks from the UC Davis student farmers because I have been making creamy pasta on the weekends for him. We still have lemons from our friends and neighbs and you know alliums go soooo well towards a creamy lemony sauce… These shells are the latest bulk bin pasta choice so you’ll see them for a while because I got a bunch. My lunch came together quickly because of all the prep I’d done the day before. Vegan Winter salad back in action! Only for some reason I was… Read more >

All through the night

A long time ago I read some random statistic about people who don’t get enough sleep overeating. Anecdotally that has been 100% true for me this past week. I don’t know if it’s an emotional thing or hormonal thing or what, but I’m drained from being up all night with P doing nebulizer treatments and whatnot. I made tuna salad and paired it with carrots and Jillz crackers, but once the tuna salad was gone I managed to eat all of the rest of the crackers… Read more >

Sesame flavors

There are so many things I should be doing right now that aren’t blogging. I’m sleep deprived and treading water in a major way, but in an effort to vent/decompress, I’m here, writing. This lunch salad had two kinds of kale massaged (DOUSED) in TJs sesame dressing, plus leftover salmon, salty almonds, and cilantro. I also had heaps of carrots on the side to round it out. Moving on to dinner… Someone at church has an orange tree because there were a ton up for grabs last weekend so I snagged them. We have mostly… Read more >

Love Day

Picking up where I left off… Is it just me (I tend to be a bit of a scrooge, so it may be) or has Valentine’s Day gotten completely out of hand for school kids?? Like what the what is going on here!? Both kids came home with elaborate goodie bags full of treats FROM EACH STUDENT. Uhhhh, excuse me? Our Valentine’s were cards. Home made cards. They painted them the week before and then cut them out into heart shapes and decorated them with stickers and signed them. That’s it. I feel bad for… Read more >
