What I Ate

I’m really bringing it back to the old school style of blogging with a (mostly) full day of eats. I didn’t take pics of snacks or drinks, so you’ll have to use your imagination when it comes to the small carafe of decaf I guzzled down by 9 am. I made a double batch of persimmon walnut bread with the last of the persimmons (hot tip: find yourself a neighbor with a tree they can’t keep up with and make friends!). I froze one loaf, but we dug into the other right off the bat…. Read more >

Sweet tooth

This post has been a long time coming. I used to feel bad about how much chocolate I ate. Omni x4

This was our 4th time staying at the Omni La Costa in Carlsbad and it’s a tradition I am very pleased about continuing. Each year is a little different based on the occupancy over the holidays, the timing of our trip (weekend v weekday), and the weather, but there are a few keys things that are the same. I loved starting our day at the cafe/general store where they have tons of baked goods, fancy parfaits, açaí bowls and java (you even get vouchers for free coffee when you check in). Look at all those… Read more >

Ninjago and friends

Like most of the parents with kids in the 4+ range, my kids are LEGO obsessed. And so, while down in Carlsbad for Thanksgiving break, we took the kids to Legoland for the second time. We had driven down the day before with my mom and stayed the night in Glendale where my cousin and her fam live because we wanted to join them for Thanksgiving. The next morning we were up early to hit the road and get to Legoland as soon as it opened. My dad was still up in Nor Cal, but… Read more >
