Weird

How is everyone doing? Weird? This is weird, right? Yeah. So I have been going through the motions of processing everything…wallowing, whining, all that stuff. But now I am choosing to move on and focus on the positive. I specifically stayed away from blogging until I reached this point because I didn’t want to seem insensitive complaining about having to cancel our Japan trip when the rest of the world is suffering. But seriously, it was a CRUSHING blow as I called all the reservations for ninja lessons, restaurants, hotels, etc to undo the trip… Read more >

All the dates

While I have been waiting for the blogging inspo to come back to me (and the time to get on my comp), things have been happening! I went on a date with my main squeeze (we f i n a l l y have a babysitter who the kids adore and we are making a big effort to use her regularly!). We went to Magpie in Sac, which we have been to once before. I had forgotten how much we loved it when we previously went, but this was just as good (maybe better?). We… Read more >

Lunch (date) lady

I just found out they are piloting full day kinder for our neighborhood school next year and it’s been a rollercoaster of emotion. I thought we would still have lunches together and a bit of one on one… Read more >

The weekly menu

I’m a little behind with sharing last week’s dinners, but Kyle is out of town again so the bar is pretty low for me. What day of the week is it? What do we have today? What am I making for dinner? First up, a veggie packed grain bowl. Quinoa + roasted Brussels sprouts + roasted squash + avo + pepitas + orange miso vinaigrette. Most of it was already prepped, so all I had to do was set up the rice cooker and then assemble everything when it was go-time. I loved this so… Read more >

Superheroes & salads

Oops, I did it again. Except not an “oops” at all, rather a very deliberate and joyful shopping experience. But before I discuss this next week’s eats, I still have a bunch of stuff from last week to share. Sometimes they want snap peas for breakfast. Works for me. My breakfasts for the week were superhero muffins from the Run Fast Eat Slow cookbook. I had a half batch in the freezer already so it involved zero effort. I added different nut butters throughout the week to keep things interesting. I’ve made so many iterations… Read more >
