I want to love Real Food Daily. I really do. But there’s something about it that annoys me (and perpetually disappoints me). Maybe it’s how overpriced it is. Or how every meal needs something extra added to it (for an additional $3 fee). Or how the ambiance is often holier-than-thou. Grrr. But it’s like Vegas. I have amnesia and after a few months hiatus I go crawling back…only to remember why I vowed I’d never return. Well. I’m happy to say, RFD finally got it right. With Mexi-fare. My date was my FPIC, Ethel…. Read more >

Even though we live blocks away from some of the finest veg-friendly establishments in LA, who can deny the fun in being 100% lazy. Vegging on the couch in PJs with dinner from Real Food Daily. Yes please. On the left: Kyle’s RFD burger with the works. On the right: my Salisbury seitan with mashed potatoes and gravy. Since it’s hard to tell what the burger looks like in the container, here’s a zoom of it (mid-grub). Or you could see his order in this post. He sure loves that burger. We each… Read more >

I’ll own it. Since last weekend, I’ve been phoning it in here on HHH. Just plugging along as per usual – work work work with free time filled with potting plants and cheering on my husband. And eating. I’ve been poking my head into the Food Revolution truck every day on my lunch break to see if Jamie Oliver is there…still no sighting though. I really want to show my lunches off. Or ask for a job. This was a salad with spinach, quinoa, & blackened tempeh. So I think he’d be a fan…. Read more >

And no play makes Elise a repetitive eater. Rather than subject you all to the same exact meal (times twenty), I’ll show my hippie bowl once and move on to my work food. Quinoa, carrots, spinach, seitan, avocado, nutritional yeast, Bragg’s aminos. After a few bad days, where I was carelessly eating wheat and agave (FODMAPs no-no) like it was going out of style, I knew I needed to get my GI tract back on track. Feeling bloated (and a bunch of other less-internet friendly terms) is the worst. So! I did what I know… Read more >

Around 4 pm, I hit a wall. Kyle did too. One cup of coffee and one hour of sleep do not make a winning pair. Starbucks run! Kyle discovered his new favorite treat, a Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino (try saying that five times fast…or after certain red-eye conditions). We also got my mom a Coffee Frappuccino (her first one I think?). We are such enablers. It was Frappuccino happy hour though, so it was a decision made purely from an economical stand point. I [thought] I ordered a grande iced coffee with room for soy… Read more >
