How thankful am I?? Too thankful for words.
I got to spend Valley’s last day before break volunteering in her class. They had a feast, which is her happy place.
There is nothing more adorable in the world than a class of three year olds praying together in pilgrim hats.
Then school got cancelled on account of the smoke and so we spent the rest of the week crafting before packing up and heading out.
It’s so hard to tell from these photos but you could barely see out the windows on the drive to the airport.
Bon Voyage.
We hit up the library the day before to pick out a ton of new material – books, cds, books on cd, etc. – so the flight was easy peasy.
From the second we landed in Long Beach, it felt like vacation mode. I hesitate to write this because it seems so insensitive to say in the face of everyone suffering, but I had legitimately forgotten what blue skies looked like! The kids shouted with glee about being able to breathe in the air, which is never something you want to hear your preschoolers celebrate. But I had to join in with them. Time to soak it up!!
We stayed the same place as last year, the Omni La Costa in Carlsbad because it was/is awesome.
We hit the ground running with a reservation for dinner at Bob’s that first night.
In case you forgot, it remains THE BEST steak I’ve ever had in my life. Ever ever.
We started the meal with some stellar bread and pickled cucumbers and bell peppers, which were just as good as last time. I def partook in the bread. And the three of us def ate half the jar of pickled veggies before our steak arrived.
Ohhhhh baby.
12 ounces of heaven.
It’s still the best steak I’ve ever had.
P tried to order bacon (ha!) but delighted in the steak and fries he ended up getting…ultimately clearing his plate.
Have I mentioned yet how thankful I am?????
