It’s been a while since I last popped in and I feel like I need to tell you where all my time and energy has been going…but that would take too long.
So instead, I’ll just say, February was F U L L and March is shaping up to be the same.
BUT. I’m really really excited by the things I’m involved in…so much so that I’m not even sad that it’s pulling me away from HHH. It’s sad to say that out loud, but the truth is, I’m spread quite thin. Being on the board at Valley’s school takes a lot of time (especially when we are throwing a huge fundraiser), but the biggest deal of alllllll….is that I am going to start teaching for fit4mom. This is probably not a surprise at all considering how much I’ve shared about my love for the community and program ever since I joined.
At the end of Summer, I took on the role of village leader doing the playgroups/crafts/social events/MNO/etc. just as a way of dipping my toe in, but kept putting off the idea of coaching.
And yet, the truth of the matter is, I’m very passionate about health and wellness – for moms specifically – and watching others do what I wanted to do sparked something in me that I couldn’t ignore any longer. Try as I might to find reasons it wouldn’t work (and trust me there are plenty, like a husband who has a completely unpredictable travel schedule), I finally just went for it.
I have been working through the training and certification for the past few months and next week I’ll be teaching my first class. I’m completely nervous but also crazy excited.
So anyway.
I’m still going to be blogging, but I’m not sure how it will look as I get myself organized…
And as much as I’d love to share more about my commitments and how insanely overscheduled every weekend is from now through next Fall…suffice it to say I’m happy. Life is good.
And now I’ll discuss some food news.
I sold my old juicer.
It was still plugging along just fine, but as I got more and more into juicing (thanks to our CSA) I wanted to splurge on a masticator that would really get all the good stuff out the produce. The Jack LaLane served me well for the past decade, but it was time to upgrade.
That beet juice was it’s last hurrah. And then I used the pulp to make purple oats for the kids.
I also used some of the carrot and beet pulp in a strata I made for Kyle. I’m not sure he knew, so shhhh, our little secret.
My new juicer makes wayyyyy drier pulp because it’s a slow juicer and sucks every drip drop out as it churns.
Isn’t she pretty?! I need to think of a name for her.
She’s a Hurom H-AA slow juicer. And although she arrived with a broken stopper cap, it didn’t stop me from giving her a test run as soon as possible (the company has already mailed me a replacement part).
I already had beet juice, so I made an orange, carrot, ginger combo to add to it. Plus the kale stems from my salad prep.
Now if the rainy cold weather would just get the memo, I’d be a really happy camper! I can’t wait until I’m sipping my veggies outside in the sun. It’s gotta happen soon right? Right???? At least we have a studio space for body back so I don’t have to brave the elements for teaching purposes. I prefer the outdoor setting, but I’m a major wuss. You will not find me doing HIIT circuits out in the rain, no thank you. The studio space is where I will be.
Congrats on the new job! It definitely sounds like the absolute perfect fit for you and when you say that you just couldn’t resist the opportunity, no matter how many reasons there could be to not do it, you know it’s right for you! It reminded me of the quote: “If you really want something you will find a way, if you don’t you will find an excuse” and I’m sure you’ll find a way to make it all work!! I’ll miss your regular updates but I can totally understand that something has to give! All the best and I will keep checking every now and then! (I’m also starting a new job soon -eek!- and so my blog reading time will probably be reduced anyways 😉 )
We have a Hurom. They are the best juicers! They are fairly easy to clean too.
Congrats on following your heart and giving teaching a go! I know how overwhelming it can feel to do new things and take on even more than you already do, but I hope that you will find a rhythm and that it will be a good change 🙂
Congratulations!!! That’s really exciting crazy amazing news! I feel like you will be an awesome super enthusiastic teacher :))
Oh man, that’s like the juicer of my dreams…my breville is still awesome six years later so I don’t need it but, yeah. And i think the juice is supposed to keep better too. That’s too funny you out juice pulp in the strata!
Looks like you got a bunch of rainbow carrots this week- i am so desperate for any signs of spring (snowed twice last week) and went with a shredded carrot radish salad with lots of cilantro and peanuts and sesame oil with some chickpeas as a big batch salad for the fridge. Too bad i have to have it with hot tea at the same time!
Hope your first week teaching goes well 🙂
I know right?? SPRING COME ONNNNN. I was feeling a similar vibe and made a cilantro and peanut salad thing with pickled radishes and a sesame dressing. So good. And thanks for the congrats 🙂 I’m super excited!
I’ve noticed that! I love it so far.
Congrats on the new job too!!
