I know, I know avocado toast is sooo 2017. BUT I have a new favorite combo that’s been on breakfast rotation and I needed to tell you about it.
Just in time for National Toast Day. 😛
Have you ever heard of Little Northern Bakehouse?
They make vegan AND gluten free bread. That’s not an easy combo because so many GF products rely on eggs, and yet, this bread is THE SOFTEST. It’s actually spongy rather than crumbly (you know how certain GF breads tend to turn into crumbs as you bite into them). Little Northern Bakehouse breads don’t do that. It’s amazing.
This is a zoomed in view of the millet and chia one. They have a few different flavors, but this is my favorite with it’s visible whole grains (although all their breads are made with sprouted non-GMO whole grains).
In honor of National Toast Day, here is a fully loaded slice with avocado, nutritional yeast, hemp seeds, and Himalayan pink salt, thereby packing it with wholesome nutrients.
S O G O O D.
Hemp seeds for protein.
Avo for fat.
Bread for carbs.
All macros covered with real foods.
And now, a little dose of gross for you. Because I want to make sure you guys all know what you’re eating…several breads currently on the market use preservatives, like glyphosate, that the WHO classifies as a “probable carcinogen”. Uhhhh, WHAT!?!?
I know.
I didn’t know this before reading up on it, but you can find plenty of info on the internet about it.
Lucky for us, Little Northern Bakehouse breads are certified as Glyphosate Residue Free by third party testing and display the Bio-Checked Non Glyphosate Certified seal. So I feel confident their products are the real deal.
Keep your eye out for their delicious breads! I found them in the freezer section at my health foods store. With summer coming, keep in mind they make buns too. 🙂
Full disclosure (per FTC guidelines!) Little Northern Bakehouse sent me products to try out. Naturally, all the opinions discussed here on the blog are my own. They are hosting a National Toast Day sweepstakes on their Instagram page now, so pop on over here to see what everyone else is making to celebrate!
I found this at my local Grocery Outlet….$3.99
YAYYYY!! Grocery outlet is apparently QUITE the hidden secret for cheap veg eats!
Oooh, that’s a good company to be friends with! I’ll pass along the recommendation to my gf sister. And i missed national toast day so obviously will have to remedy that situation ASAP.
