Thanks to the 4th this felt like a really short week. I love when weekends are almost as long as the week. Kyle was gone for work last week and he left again today so I cherish the weekend time mucho mucho.
How adorable are these two.
It’s like my baby turned into a toddler overnight. I know every parent on the planet says that, but still! He’s a blur on film.
My family came for the 4th of July and we went to Crepeville for lunch. It gave us a great view of the bike races. We saw a few crashes (scary) but everyone was okay. It’s really cool seeing them whizz by lap after lap after lap. We watched last year too, but this year was better because it wasn’t 105 degrees outside. I can handle the 90s. The 100s is when it gets uncomfortable.
Pattycakes gets SO much attention with this 6 : 1 ratio.
We BBQ-ed at our place after P went to bed. Corn, meat, and mushrooms, oh my.
My plate.
I made this potato salad using Sierra Nevada porter & spicy brown mustard. It’s stellar. The perfect mustard in my opinion. The potato salad was great too – I used chives from my garden. 🙂
AND I finally used the pasta faucet.
Despite how thrilled he and Kyle look, this guy is our new bestie. We say hi on our morning walks.
Oh hi Mr. forward facing car seat! Aren’t you all high and mighty in your throne.
Watermelon watermelon watermelon.
Cake cake cake.
He’s coming around on sand. Meanwhile, I’m not in love with the clean up.
Super seedy grrrranola. Very into flax at the moment.
Lots of ground flax means lots of clusters. 🙂
Which makes for an easy-to-grab snack too.
P is for Picasso.
Happy July!
Looks like a fun weekend 🙂 I’m loving corn on the cob lately! (Try it with Feta on top. It’s SO GOOD!)
I haven’t tried that Kombucha flavor yet. I’m definitely adding it to my list!
Isn’t P WAY too young to be forward facing? I thought the recommendation was at least 24 months, and as long as possible beyond that?
Yum! Do you have a recipe for that awesome granola?
You have a pasta faucet?? Wow that’s some next level shiz.
seriously. its totally ridic
sadly, no. i just made it on the fly because i make granola so often i don’t really do recipes any more. its basically just ingrained in my head.
loooooove sweet corn. i haven’t fried it with feta but i bet id love it since cotija has me weak in the knees and its similar in its salty flavor profile. mmmm…
Awesome recipes for the week. This is really cool. Must have to try. Thanks.
Your playroom looks like a lot of fun! I know what you mean, re: toddler overnight. It’s too much. One day my little guy was trying to eat the book, next day he was flipping thru the pages (ok, the book is upside half the time, but still!) I’m a few days out from his first birthday, hopefully I’ll be able to contain myself when the day comes 😉
I need to make some granola, much better use of my oats than monster cookies, although….yum! So glad tomorrow is friday. Weekends are THE best.
It depends on their weight, car seat design etc.
Jessica that is 100% false. While manufacturer limits might fit P for forward facing, rear facing is 5 times safer and no pediatrician would recommend forward facing before the age of 2. I implore you to read the car seat lady blog to learn more. I don’t want your children being at extra risk for extreme harm in an accident for no reason other than being misinformed or stubborn.
And once again, bloggers only reply to the comments praising them, eschewing an important discussion because it dates to point out facts that contradict them. I don’t question most things people do, whatever, but child safety shouldn’t fall into the “haters gonna hate” category. Formula vs. Breastmilk? Keep your mouth shut. But forward vs. Rear facing? No. Forward facing at this age is dangerous. Period. There is zero reason to forward face at this age. Fact.
Hi Cassie, thanks for pointing me to the blog, I had no idea! It makes a lot of sense. =D
