Hopefully P will be better at sharing than his parents. But seriously, I think the key to a happy marriage is separate dessert stashes. Don’t try to steal my chocolate!
We went for a family hike to Avery Pond. We met up with a few other families and even though the hike started around P’s nap time, we coordinated the drive so he’d fall asleep on the way there. We hit up the bux and he got an hour of shut eye. Win win.
We also stopped at the Roseville WF on the way home because, duh, it was on the way home. OMG I forgot how amazing those new stores can be. Our Davis store is fine, but it has NOTHING on the Roseville location. This was like the Pasadena flagship store on steroids wheatgrass. It has a restaurant within it! I went a little crazy because it was options overload but it was a weekend treat so there you go. Back to meal planning and budgeting…
Last week’s plan was a good one. Remind me to tell you about the cornbread I made to pair with that crock pot pulled pork.
Back on the sweet breakfast train.
My garden is thriving! Hence my disappearance from the blog. I like both hobbies but gardening brings me outside. Plus P is a nature lover and adores helping me water the plants each day. He has his own watering can and he knows which plants he can pick and eat and which he has to be “gentle” with and he loves smelling the flowers and giving them kisses. I get a little nervous because it’s bee central right now with everything in bloom (and the bees fascinate him so so much) but so far so good.
Again with the sharing? Who are they kidding.
We had a memorial day party and it was super fun. Especially because I got to make a massive checklist.
I made this wild rice salad (and loved it!) among other things. Recipe coming.
Did you know you could mix and match beers to make a six pack of your preference at Trader Joe’s? You can open whatever cases you want and take however many you want. They even have empty 6 pack boxes hanging in the beer aisle for this exact purpose! I was pretty impressed. I got the no gluten beer to give a try – I’l’l let you know!
For a simple dinner we made (Costco) salmon burgers and slaw. I used a glutino english muffin as a bun and it was actually pretty good! At first bite it was more breakfast-y than I was expecting, but my taste buds adjusted quickly and the texture was fluffy but not fall-apart-y.
I have had these in the freezer for a while and they are good for things like this every once in a while, but the ingredients list is long and honestly, sourdough would probably be just as easy on my gut (with far fewer ingredients!).
P is a total ham and when he gets laughter for doing something he will keep doing it. He’s just such a social butterfly it’s so cute. That container was full of strawberries that he dumped down his front…over and over again. Such a gentleman. Clearly the ladies flock to him (see above!).
These seasonal guys were not on the shelves nearly long enough. Serious. Heartbreak.
I never showed these off before, but this is what Kyle (errr..Pacman) got me for mother’s day. Obviously they are all gone now (insert sad emoji) but I was surprised at which were my faves. The coconut is an obvious #1 but the chili one was a very close second. I’m not usually into weird fancy things in my chocolate, but it was subtle and present in just the right way. Theo knows what’s up. Can you believe I managed to make them last almost 2 weeks! Good thing I have the pound plus to tap into now.
I am so jealous of the mix and match option at Trader Joe’s. In Pennsylvania, you can only buy alcohol at special beer and liquor stores, so I had to say goodbye to 3-buck-chuck and other staples when I moved here 🙁
Cool raised bed. Did it come with the house or did you assemble from kit? I want to put some in at my house, but the only good spots have cement patio, not sure if that will work?
I love the “with” symbol on your chalkboard! No one has any clue what that means when I do it on the whiteboard at home! LOL. Also, Theos Chocolate is bomb and no soy lecithin = win, win. If you guys ever come back to Seattle you should tour Theos factory… lots of free samples. Yum!
Yum! Alllllll the chocolate. Sounds like an excellent mother’s day present!
Oh yummy… Chocolate has been my weakness lately!!
umm…what is that bon appetite magnet?? I think I need one
Chocolate sharing never ends well….
That rice salad looks amazing! The east coast went into full blown summer weather and that looks like a great lunchy thing to make.
How fun to have such a great back yard! And be careful leaving open beverages around bees….. I learned the hard way they get thirsty too.
Hey, sounds like you were in my neighborhood:) glad you liked it!
I’ve been reading your blog for a little while and really enjoying it. How can any post with those cute baby pictures not be enjoyable? But your recipe ideas are really good too. Thank you!
