Oh man, have I been living the dream! As I previously mentioned, Kyle and I have been (blissfully) adding more mileage to our new civic this past week…
We worked our way down the state, stopping in Monterey for a few days before settling in Santa Barbara for a few more.
We stayed at the CUTEST B&B in Monterey called Old Monterey Inn. Have you ever stayed at a Bed & Breakfast?
I loved everything from the decor (we were in “The Library”) to the fireplace to the happy hour (with chocolates and pistachios) to the after-dinner port.
We had our own balcony, but the Inn had a huge garden to enjoy as well.
I took a million and one photos because I was so pleased with the place. I definitely recommend it.
Here is the cute place as you enter the driveway…and then walk up to the ivy covered front door.
Welcome indeed!
This is their dining room, where you eat in the morning (unless you would like your breakfast delivered to your room. Breakfast in bed? Don’t mind if I do!
This was our delish set-up which we dug into while watching the Mexico vs. South Africa World Cup game.
Mug of coffee for ten two – check!
Other highlights included the strawberry filled crepe and the banana-y orange juice.
Kyle had both of our egg quiche dishes, and dang did they smell heavenly.
I dunked my big fluffy warm bread slices into my coffee, but I ate Kyle’s with jam. Yum!
I’m not usually such a fan of eating big meals in the AM. I’m rarely hungry when I wake up…it seems my appetite needs time to get going. However, we were up at 6 something (didn’t want to miss any of the World Cup coverage!) so my stomach was ready for food having been up for a few hours already.
In addition to the multi-course breakfast, they had coffee, teas, biscotti, and cookies available all morning long.
And in the living room area, there was a book of menus (with all the local restaurants’ offerings provided) as well as wine, chocolates, and nuts during happy hour, and port all night long.
Super cute right? And they were more than helpful in making reservations and recommending favorite restaurants in the area.
Also while in Monterey, we went to the Aquarium…
Rented bicycles…
Ate some great meals…
And enjoyed the gorgeous scenery!
(There may have been some drinking too)
Stay tuned for more (I swear my posting frequency will increase soon).
Oh man, that place looks amazing! I’ve stayed at some awesome B&Bs in England – lots in farmhouses and the like and I always love them. The service you get is so personal!
Banana-y orange juice? This sounds amazing! Must make…
I haven’t been there in forever, but I remember some good times. Glad you had such a wonderful time as well!
I am glad to hear you are alive and okay! I was beginning to wonder, lol. It looks and sounds like you are having a fabulous time–enjoy your travels and vacation!

I love B&Bs so much! I’ve only stayed at one, but I was in LOVE with it – I think I took a jillion pictures too.
Oh I can see you’re living the good life. And I am thrilled for you honey!!!!
High-five for living the dream! (I’m into high-fives at the mo). Love staying in B&Bs- we stayed in an AMAZING one in the mountains of South Africa, just outside Durban. It was like a second honeymoon. Looks like you’re having a pre-moon/pre-honyemoon… whatever 🙂
That b&b looks like a dream! I’ve never been before, but I think i will need to take a visit sometime soon. Bread dunked in coffee? hmmm not something I have tried before.

The first time I stayed at a BB and I felt weird, like living in someone’s house which you are but then I really enjoyed it. I notice that they are always have that “old charming” feel to it.
