Is there anything better than a Mickey pancake on a Monday morning?
If so, I’d really like to hear it!
Pancakes were a Sunday thing for my family. At least they were whenever we didn’t have a soccer tournament that required us to be in Lemoore or Visalia or Clovis (you get the idea…I traveled a lot for soccer). Anyway. My point is, brunch after church was a treat. We would either go to a local cafe or go home and make pancakes.
And we always requested Mickey Mouse pancakes. While at Disneyland this past month, I found this handy tool to make perfect Mickeys each and every time.
I couldn’t wait to use it!
It took a while to get used to flipping the pancake with the plastic around it, but once I got the hang of it (and stopped overfilling the mold) it was easy peasy.
Mmm…nothing like a mickey pancake with extra sizzurp. 🙂
Did you ever try and shape pancakes as a kid? Or adult?
Wow, those pancakes are so cool! I´ve just made a batch of pancakes for my mom, but they are just plain old pancakes, no Mickey Mouse included 🙂
I’ve never done pancakes in any other shape than circles or ovals, how boring is that? I totally want to try out other shapes though – the Mickey shaper is awesome!
I haven’t! But guess what I am going to buy this weekend?!? 🙂
We did Mickey pancakes too! And I remember once my dad made a squirrel-shaped one. Quite the pancake artist, he was, heh. You should try to do a hippo one sometime! 😀
Lol! That looks soooo cool 😛 I’m ridiculously excited to go to NY in September and eat my bodyweight in vegan pancakes…they are one of my favourite foods ever! Your mickey ones are too cute! xyx
Oooh I want that, I want that, I want that!! We didn’t have Mickey pancakes growing up – but on Sundays, they almost always included chocolate chips.
I like to make the weird shaped ones with my kids Sunday mornings 🙂 We get the electric griddle out so we have room and then I let the kids add things to their batter like cinnamon or different extracts, nothing chunky, and then we put the batter into different squeeze bottles and they go at it! They’ve made flowers and bikes and of course peace signs 😉 It’s a cool way to hang out and laugh and get messy together 🙂
It’s so funny reading your references to traveling soccer teams in the greater Bay Area! I grew up in San Francisco and played select soccer for about ten years on a team in Marin, and travelled to all the (*fabulous*) places you mention. I miss those days…sort of! 🙂 I think I had enough Jamba Juice and Noah’s Bagels to last a lifetime! I’m gluten interolant now, but I’ve found some pretty tasty GF pancake recipes out there.
These pancakes look delicious! Loved it. What a great idea!
Love your blog. I’ve always learn something new. I’ve tryed your oat bakes (made my own few changes). So good!
I am really loving that Mickey pancake!!
That pancake is adorable! I suck at flipping pancakes. It’s really bad. I stick to waffles most of the time!
YUM! Mickey Mouse Pancakes were a saturday morning staple in my house. I’ve been on an blueberry oatmeal pancake kick lately and relied on them for pre-long run dinners during marathon training. I am so happy to hear that someone over the age of 25 still gets a kick out of fun shaped breakfast treats. I was afraid I was the only one.
Cute!! I’ve never done any other shape than a circle or occasional oval..but I’m definitely doing to look into more fun shapes like that!
How cute! I am a sucker for making heart shaped anything. 🙂
I love this, it’s so cute 🙂
I really really want a heart one!
awesome. i love it!
Pancakes were a rare occurrence in my house when I was little, we usually just overfilled our cereal bowls several times. So when we did have them round was just fine for me!
Cute! I have a monkey pancake pan. I give him bananas. (Okay, I put bananas on him and eat him and his bananas.)
This made my night! We totally used to have Mickey Mouse pancakes when my sister and I were kids and we still make heart shaped pancakes every valentine’s day!! 😀
In middle school, my best friend and I got really into baking and cooking together, so she gave me a set of teddy bear pancake molds for my birthday once. Best gift ever!
I want one of those! I would make them for myself every weekend, and be completely fine with the fact that I make myself Mickey Mouse pancakes and eat them alone 😉
hearts would be so cute!! im doing that next time 🙂
nope. we may be a rare group but im right there with ya!
thanks paula! glad youre enjoying the oat bakes 🙂
hahaha…ohhh the memories!
brenda! that is so clever!!! i love this idea. i cant wait to steal it to use with my nieces (and one day my own kids). you are so creative!
haha. no more boring pancakes for you!!
a mickey mold?????
mmmmm…next batch will be carob-y for sure 🙂
Awww! How cute! Reminds me of when I would stay at my grandmother’s house! She would always ask me what shape I wanted my pancakes to be and I would almost always ask for Mickey Mouse! I’ve actually never tried shaping them myself…I should…especially with the amount of pancakes I consume! haha
my friend used to be the short order cook at a cafe at our local ski resort. we went there every time before a day on the slopes. he would make us a pancock. yes, a pancake shaped like a penis. balls and all. that, my friend, may be better than your mickey flapjack.
