Kyle and I woke up WAY too early that first morning of vacation (why do you think that was?? cough cough, baby girl). Sharing a hotel room is always an adventure! Anyway, the good news was it gave us plenty of time to work out before breakfast. We took turns at the resort gym, although I barely got my heart rate up since I was watching Bravo on my phone more than ellipticalling. In any event, we decided to hit up the buffet because we loved it last time we were there. It is such a good bang for your buck because kids are free (which is how I survive the economical torment of all-you-can-eat style places without stuffing my face into oblivion). I had been dreaming of the Omni cinnamon rolls all night…but when we got there it was a la carte ordering only due to the hotel occupancy not being high enough. Womp womp. Rather than order off the menu, we left for our second favorite spot in Carlsbad…
Choice Juicery!
Which is arguably the best breakfast in all of San Diego. It is SOOOOO good.
I got the chocolate hero with granola and almond butter on top. Totally hit the spot.
After that we were off to the pool.
They hit up the slides and splash pad for hours while I read in the sunshine.
Heaven.
The afternoon was more of the same…pool time…lounging…relaxing…
She loves wearing suits with “bra tops” like mama. 😛
This is what a full pool day looks like!
He was 100% asleep in the middle of the restaurant.
He woke up right away once his food showed up, though.
Per Kyle’s request, we went to Crack Shack, another favorite from our last vacation in SD. Last time we got take out, but this time we dined in.
I got the Anti-Salad Power Bowl with fried chicken, soft boiled egg, heritage grains, chato’s salsa, avocado, and arugula. With a side of fries. 🙂
The kids meal came with cookies but I didn’t tell them that, and instead saved them for me and Kyle later that night.
HOLY !!!! I’m not a cookie person, but these were gooooey in the center and tasted more like cookie dough than cookies, which is tooootally my thing. So obviously I threw caution to the wind and ate one (they are huge!) in all it’s wheat and dairy glory. I think it was worth it. I did have a little stomach cramping later that night and a mini headache, but if I’m looking at the big picture, I think having the cookie was a better choice than not. Both symptoms were gone by the morning.
