Mail time!!! Here’s what the post man dropped off last night…
I was waiting on the edge of my seat for these to arrive. So naturally my packed work eats included some of my new goodies.
Two apples (again), Breakfast Bar YouBar, dried pears/papaya, Honey Graham Z bar, Blueberry Crisp Clif bar, and a salad with the works (spinach, sweet potatoes, tomato slices, and carrots).
OH MY CHOCO-HEAVEN! The stats on this bar alone were reason enough to adore it…but the flavor! Yum! I literally couldn’t have been more pleased. It was chocolate-y and gooey and really really good. The only issue I had was with the texture. It was kinda mushy (in that stick-to-the-wrapper kind of way). It reminded me of a softer powerbar (but with WAY better flavor). I will definitely be ordering more. And even better, I can make myown! YouBar is so cool like that. You can build a bar from scratch and they have really quality ingredients (including carob powder!). I can’t wait to try all the other sample products they sent me and then to make my OWN bar with exactly what I want (thanks Joel!). Plus, the company is so diligent in answering any questions you have. I was curious about the combination of various ingredients and how they would work together and they responded right away. Good customer service is a real asset in my book.
Anyways…the rest of my lunch was tres delish – espesh the apples. 🙂
Work was crazy crazy today. I was pushing IV meds like a trauma nurse. I actually think I spent 2 hours straight in one patient’s room because his heart rate REFUSED to budge from the 140s. Don’t worry, all’s good in the hood now (did you ever doubt me?).
By the time I got off work I was SO tired (and fuh-reezing, too!), so I decided to treat myself to a little somethin’ somethin’.
Leather jacket! So gangsta!
How’s that for va-va-va-voom hair Jenny? Sorry about the grainy photo :( And the hot a$$ scrubs.
Dinner was on obvious choice.
It may seem boring, but it was all I wanted.
I was dreaming of trying it all day long, and as a result I took waaaay too many pictures. After snapping these photos, I added leche, popped it in the micro, and let it get soopah soggy. Warm, mushy cereal is my FAVE! Don’t hate.
No joke, I loved everything about this cereal (well, duh, I’m the one who made it after all)…but you never know how these things will taste until you get them. In addition to my warm bowl with milk, I had a pretty decent amount plain (dry) too, which is the ultimate test of good cereal. Mmmm. The best part about making your own cereal? Now I don’t have to combine 6 different boxes of different cereals just to achieve cereal greatness. Nope. With [me] & goji I can choose every single thing I want (the options boggle the mind) and mix ‘em all together and voila, perfection on your doorstep. Even cooler is the personalized photos you can now get on the canister. Thank you Adam, Alexander & Carl – I love your company! Check it out peeps, I promise you WON’T be disappointed.
For dessert I had a masterful creation of apple chunks topped with a chocolate chip Z bar and vegan chocolate chips. This meal made me want to get down on one knee and propose on the spot. L is for…
(So, I just realized this post is mighty advertise-y and I want all y’all to know I don’t plug sh!t I don’t like or sugar-coat my reviews for the sake of making a company happy. These eats are legit winners in my book, and neither me nor my taste buds can tell a lie.)
Tomorrow brings much missed down time and hopefully a visit to the gym. Hooray for a weekend off – now I can finally sleep in. Too bad my beau is out of town 🙁
LOOOOOOVE your coat!!
Enjoy your well-deserved downtime tomorrow!
Cute coat.. and I totally want to make a “You bar” .. YUM!
We must be on the same swag route. I worked with Adam/ProBars and Carl at Me & Gogi. I love Averie’s Mix I think I called mine 🙂 If you get a second, email me, I have a good story for you. Well, I’ll just email you.
Enjoy your Sunday Elise! And I loved your protein diatribe today on my blog. HOW TRUE!!!!

Is there a problem with eating cereal for dinner?!?!
I must have not gotten that memo.
<3 <3
Glad you liked the YouBars! I just reviewed some last week–I loved the flavor of the Honey Cashew.
That cereal looks pretty rockin too.
I’ve been craving cereal all day – so reading thiss post was almost like torture.you’ve pretty much convinced me to try both custom-made goodies.
Cereal is amazing after a rough day… Ultimate comfort food. I have lots of projects to check out I see! I wish my postman was as generous.
Carob powder? I need to check that out, ASAP.
You look so fierce in your jacket – Tyra would be impressed!
Me & Goji was the very first company I tried and absolutely loved! It’s been a while since I’ve ordered but now I think I might get some again! I agree, mixing cereals is too much work, and too expensive. Now you don’t have to, and the ratios are just perfect.
The jacket is awesome! You totally rock it. And you are so tiny!
I am dying to try YouBars. 150 calories is great for so much chocolatey goodness 🙂
you know what.. i thouught i saw a hippie on the back of a motorcycle the other day rockin a slammin leather jacket and green scrubs..was that you?
hahaha LOVE that jacket fo sho.
me&goji cereal is like a surprise in every bite or scoop and I think one of the best parts is the canister which I still use haha and find a reason to put anything in it. I think its really that I just like seeing my name on the canister..
how vain.
I love my [me] and Goji mix! What did you put in yours? Looks more cereal-ish than mine (mine has a muesli base). Hell YES to the nuking of milk/cereal combo. Soggy mush is where it’s at.
that wasnt me, but if you were near where i work, then i bet i know who it was!! haha. one of my coworkers has a bike, and so does her BF, and they “carpoo”l all the time…her leather jacket is NOTHING compared to her chaps. yes, she actually has leather chaps. how worried would you be if she were your nurse? VERY.
elise.
you seriously rock it out!
love the eats- the coat- everything.
one quick question & favor.
how the heck do you cook a komboucha squash? i FINALLY found my at the supermarket and am perplexed as to how to go about eating it!
help !!!
thanks so much
ht
one trick ive found to help hack it in half is throwing it in the micro for a bit first. but be careful bc they can explode if you forget about them!!! after wrangling my knife through it (try not to lose a finger) i just popped it in the oven for 15ish mins on each side (i think the oven was on 375-400). now, to be honest, the squash was a bit tough, so next time i would pre-steam it before baking it in the oven. of course this is all assuming it is just cut in half. if you were to cut it up into smaller chunks, they would be fine just cooked in the oven as i previously mentioned. hope that helps!!
I am super jealous of your bars and cereal! I have been lusting after the You Bar website and creating my own bar for forever. Why are they so expensive?!? What fun to create your own bars and cereal!
Your dessert is making ME want to marry you just for coming up with it…shhhh…don’t tell Kyle…
Cute coat! Is it REAL leather?!
Courtney
nope.
Then I like it even more!
Courtney
Gimme that dessert bowl nowwww. RE-CREATING THAT SHIZZ TONIGHT!!!!… But with a spooooky zbar 🙂 xoxoxoxox
E-claire! Congrats on the cereal! Looks delicioso but I’m anti the sog/mush, but not hating! Besos!
