Saturday.
The rest of the normal working world is sleeping through the morning and enjoying staying inside on this freezing weekend day…but not me. I got up earlier than normal since the weekend subway runs local, so it takes me a longer than usual to get to the lower east side. I stopped at Bruno’s for my AM coffee and then the day began…and flew by. I really wasn’t looking forward to working the weekend, but as it turns out, it was a great day! I got my same patients back, which is always nice (and even better when they are good patients). Sometimes (as much as I hate to admit this) weekends can actually be better than weekdays because we do rounds early in the day and the unit is just calmer in general.
Anyways, I had lunch kinda late…good thing I had my Super Protein odwalla bar to tide me over until the afternoon. It’s like an oatmeal raisin cookie!
Here’s my lunch sando (smart deli “turkey” meat, lettuce, greek yogurt, etc.)…notice below the mini sandwich bite in addition to the big (normal) one above. It’s my little sandwich nugget 🙂
I used the last of the Alvarado street bread, and the edge of the loaf had 2 mini pieces that I clearly had to put to use. It looks bigger than it is in the photo. It truly is a little nugget! Anyways, I got another cup of coffee after lunch and brought it back to the unit to nurse throughout the rest of the day.
Kyle met me at the hospital after my shift ended and we walked to the Whole Foods in Union Square to get a treat for dinner (I think I deserve a little splurge when I work on the weekends, yeah?). Look at my BOMB dinner.
