I am back in CA! YEAH!! But before I get to the fun I’m am having on the West Coast, I will quickly recap my few days leading up to coming here.
I worked on Tuesday, so I made sure to get to bed early before midnight on Monday night (I don’t like yawning through codes thankyouverymuch).
So, as I was dozing off Monday night, my phone rang so loud and abruptly, I bolted upright nearly shocking myself into SVT (cardiac talk, no worries). Who the eff would text me past midnight?? By now, my west coast friends know better than that…it was my DAD. Given the time of the text you’d think it was some kind of family emergency – but you’d be wrong. Oh no, he was informing me (and I quote) "I voted for Natalie 30 times."
[huh]
If you’re like me (and don’t give a sh!t about pop culture D list celebs), this text likely means nothing to you also, but apparently he was referring to Natalie Coughlin from Dancing with the Stars. Uhhhh…what’s more ridiculous here – my dad watching such a show OR my dad spending his time and $$$ to vote THIRTY times. Dad, I love you, but we need to have a chat about this…
I still got to sleep fairly easily and started work with a solid 4 hours of zzzzz’s under my belt.
Work was pretty awesome…of course the whole time I was thinking of NOTHING but my trip home. Talk about a light at the end of the tunnel…
I enjoyed my usual salad of spinach, carrots, steamed sweet potato wedges and raisins. YUM. Along with all the other usual suspects (above), I sipped a soy misto for an extra jolt extra calories.
After work I raced home to see my boo, but (sadly) Kyle still wasn’t home. His trip’s return and my trip’s departure only allowed for a few hours of face time in between. :(
I made dinner instead.
Remember my AlfreDON’T recipe? I told you it would reappear!!
So easy, so throw together noodles, steamed broccoli, and then whip up a tofu/nooch “alfredo” sauce.
AH-mazing!
After that I had a fruity dessert of apples slices and strawberry vanilla protein shake. I love my new WF vanilla protein powder.
I packed the night away (mostly laundry!) and was nearly zipping my suitcase closed when Kyle got home. Hooray!! Too bad we went to bed a few minutes later.
Plane snacks, check! Plane reads, check! Plane tunes, check! Ready to hit the road 🙂
My flight was at 7 am, so you can understand why I don’t have the energy to go into the deets now…more Cali fun to be continued. XXX
I’m sorry, but I think it’s both hysterical and adorable that your dad called you to tell you that.
You got the soy protein powder, right? … I’m pondering buying that… I just wish it wasn’t such a ridiculously huge canister!
Lucky you to get away from this cold nasty rain!! Have fun! 🙂
<3 <3
Hahah I think I love your dad
YAHOO!!!!! Enjoy CA.
Haha my dad would text me at that time too 😀
I have never seen an episode of Dancing with the Stars either…I would have had NO idea what that text had meant! And I love it that your Dad texts you… 🙂
Are those the tofu noodles I keep seeing in your noodle posts/bowls?? They don’t look like normal noodles…how are the tofu ones?
Have a fab time in CA!
Courtney
Enjoy your trip! I LOVE packing plane snacks!!
I have never steamed my sweet potatoes (I need to try that.. thanks for the idea) 😉
Well, voting for Dancing With the Stars IS a dire need sometimes. You’ve got to save your favorites. Sarcasm aside, I think that’s probably one of the funniest things I’ve heard all week – gotta love dads 🙂
You forgot your surgical mask for the airport/plane. Hope you don’t catch the piggie.
Have fun in CA!!
I love when you include nursing tid bits. It makes me so excited to start studying to be a nurse! Good eats all around. Definitely stock up on the airplane snacks because airplane is disgustING! haha i love your dad my dad texts me whenever he is watching a really important sports game and most of the time i don’t even care about the sport he is texting about! Have fun in california!
Oh my gosh, my parents are the same way! The funny thing is, my dad is just like yours, and will say “Natalie” or whoever like he totally knows the person. 🙂
Welcome home honey!!!!!!! Had I known, I would have sent your winnings to your parents house in CA and they’d be there already for you. Rather than all the way to NY from AZ. Oh well, you can devour when you get back to NY unless of course they arrived in yesterday’s mail but I doubt it. Anyway have a balll back home! 🙂
Have so much fun at home!
PS Quantum Leap is worth another go, IMHO – it has been really good in my experience! Of course those experiences have been at their Queens location… but the boyf and I adore it. 🙂
Enjoy CALI! I’m trying to enjoy my last few weeks here.
That broccoli mess looks too good. Have fun in CA – I’m so jealous.
I like your blog and your blog title! It made me laugh! 🙂
Glad you made it home safely!! haha Your dad sounds fun—that is so funny! 😉

buahha your dad is the MAN! I don’t know if my dad even knows what a text message is. Enjoy the west coast girl – can’t say I’m not jealous.. it’s a miserable 40 degrees over hurr in CT.. sadface.
they ARE tofu ones. its weird because at first i hated them, but now im kinda partial to them. there is something about their soft and slimy texture that i like. i think i want to try rice noodles next because i have a feeling i would enjoy those too… give em a try, but dont give up if you hate them the first time around (bc i did).
next time i head down to so cal ill let you know…i love me some food buddies 🙂
