Green goop

In true Sesame Street style, today was sponsored by the colors GREEN and ORANGE.  I didn’t realize it until I was posting these photos, but there’s a real trend going on in my eats from today.

Breks was caffeine and fruit.  After the booze infusion that was this weekend, I was thinking of doing something detox-y, but then I remembered that my normal eats ARE mostly just that.  So, onward ho!  I was happy to get back to my froth love.  Coffee just isn’t the same when I don’t get my own non-milk stevia on.  Bluebeezies and cantaloupe rounded out the meal quite nicely.

Lunch time = sammich time

Hummus on one slice, “cheese” on the otha!  I slapped spinach and LightLife “turkey” deli meat in between ‘em and BAM!

I had some Newman’s organic pretz on the side.  They were delightful!  I dipped them in the (not pictured) home-made hummus.  It was the perrrrfect accompaniment to my sando.

Multi-green!  I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous about trying this flavor (I mean just LOOK at it!), but, turns out, it was SO tasty!  I knew I shouldn’t have doubted my Kombucha love.  I think I say this after each new flavor I try, but now THIS one might be my favorite!

The green elixir combined with the dried pineapple ring gave me the energy I needed to get to the gym.  I had both excitement AND trepidation approaching this gym visit.  I was stoked because I hadn’t done jack sh!t for exercise in nearly a week, but at the same time, I was nervous for the exact same reason.  I wasn’t in the mood to kick my own a$$, but I knew that’s what I had to do.  Five minutes into a Jillian podcast, I was PUMPED!

  • 30 on the elliptical
  • 20 on the treadmill
  • 30 on the elliptical
  • abs, arms, legs, stretching

Done.

I did more grocery shopping after the gym, and I bought so much, I think I got in another arm workout on the way home.

The hummus-y bread held me over while I prepped dinner.

I decided to make an avocado dressing.  I knew I wanted it to seem like a creamy dressing, so I added in half the carton of plain greek yogurt, a tsp of miso paste, a packet of stevia, and a dash of salt.

IMG_3312IMG_3313

Naturally, it didn’t blend (clearly if I had a food processor this wouldn’t be an issue…hint hint), so I added in some white wine vinegar and H20.

IMG_3314

That did the trick!

IMG_3318 IMG_3321

Mmmm…avocado miso greek yogurt goop!  I sampled dumped the green dressing all over the night’s dinner(s), but the excess went in a leftover jar for later use.

Orange and Green dinner #1 sweet potato crisps hot from the oven on the side of a spinach, carrot, and cherry tomato salad with green goop

IMG_3320 IMG_3322

Pre and post toss-age 🙂

IMG_3323

The rest of the sweet potato crispers with more green goop were orange and green dinner #2.

IMG_3324

Since orange and green are the colors of the season, I drizzled some more avo dressing on horse carrots – so hot right now!

Eventually dessert time rolled around.

I may have smuggled some dried mangoes in addition to the blueberry dessert I created.  And by “created” I mean dumped vanilla soymilk and cinnamon on top of.  Crafty, very crafty.  Since it was SUCH a complicated recipe, I may have to write it down…and if you all want to copy it down for later use – of course I expect all the credit.

Back to the grind manana.  Hope you all survived Monday.

For some reason, this ‘green goop’ talk is making me think of Sesame Street. Liking your blueberry recipe a lot- I think there should be a cookbook full of recipes that are literally:
    1) take ingredients
    2) dump in bowl
    3) eat
Would make my life much easier 😛

How do you get the heart shape on your coffee? Special equipment or it just loves you?

  2. broccolihut

Pretzels & hummus is a fab combo, no? I need to have that again, ASAP.
Multi Green kombucha is going on my shopping list–your taste buds know good kombucha;)
I love any kind of green goop these days. I’ve been really into make avocado puree/soup, and I made a tasty basil dressing the other day too. Your recipe sounds killer!

Yohoho! That one piece of hummus-y bread looks divine and looks like Ina Garten frosted it with humhum. I say this because I was watching Barefoot Contessa today and she was icing a carrot cake and it looked just as beautiful as your pre-dinna snack.

I really need to start to love Kombucha. I think my bod would recover from a hangover 20 times faster.

PS: Did Kyle killz youz for that pic?!?!

  4. Lara (Thinspired)

Oooh! I will have to try the avocado goop! How can it be bad?! And it’s so versatile! 😉
Um, the heart in your latte is too cute for words. You have mad talent, lady!

  5. ksgoodeats

Did you make that foam heart?! Girl you got skillzzzz!

Horse carrots are so much better than horse apples! Horse apples are like two bites, horse carrots? 5, easy.

Please, please, PUH-LEASE post that dessert recipe 😉

Awww…when we were little we used to have dinners like that–represented by colors or letters (the letter “p”–peas, pasta etc.) just like Sesame Street! Sigh…the memories 🙂

Nice use of the never-ending miso in your avocado dressing!

Very creative dressing, as I resort to just smashing the avocado around a bit and calling it good (that’s my recipe-smash, consume). That was also one hell of a workout!

I’m feeling very dumb, since I can’t figure out why orange and green are Sesame Street colors. Must be my deprived childhood. :p

About the food processor… I had the same issue with cottage cheese because I didn’t have a dairy food processor, so I went to Walgreens and bought one of those mini food choppers for like ten dollars… seems to do the job just fine!

I’m thinking your ulterior (sp?) motivation behind this post was a subliminal message for Irish pride..
(I don’t even know if you’re Irish haha)

You’re a brave brave BRAVE Kombucha soul. Seriously you should consider Fear Factor.

back to the grind = NOT fun.

I’ve never tried Kombucha drinks…I’ve always seen them but I’ll have to try one next time!

I’m also addicted to anything avocado! And your dressing looks great…I’m going to have to try it now

Green and orange are very pretty colors 🙂 I like that “green goop” stuff.

  12. lowandbhold

My mom made me a very similar dressing recently and I smothered it on everything in my fridge. I am definitely going to make my own soon!

It’s good to have a theme… it would get really interesting if you picked them out the night before and tried to stick to it all day.

  13. Missy Maintains

I was all nervouse when I tried the green Kombucha too but of course it was great! The green goop sounds really good! I only have a blender too so I need to remember your little trick!

  14. Quinn

Did you intentionally make the froth of your coffee look like a heart?

    Dressing looks delish!

  15. Helen (Tales Over Tea)

  20. elise

he still doesnt know about it!!! shhhh..hummus should always be applied like icing, no? kombucha is crazy bomb for the bod, and worth every dang penny. and yes, it totally helps filter out the B minus. like dialysis for the GI tract.

  21. elise

i mean what DOESNT go with avo? its like the new hummus 🙂

  22. elise

i concur…horse carrots make me feel small (and dainty?), whereas horse apples make me feel like a giant. the recipe is just too complicated! haha

  23. elise

yesssssssssss!! only 396,510 more tsps of miso paste to go!! im SO glad you understood my sesame street reference! we sound like we both had similarly nerdy families 🙂

  24. elise

clearly we both share the same kombucha love (and blender issues).

  25. elise

smash and consume is a perfectly legit recipe in my book

  26. elise

awww…you never watched sesame street? at the beginning of each episode they said “today’s program is sponsored by…[fill in the blank]” but they didn’t have things like american airlines or gatorade…instead they said “the letter P,” or “the color blue.” so cheesy! now you can consider yourself in the loop 🙂

  27. elise

    i think there’s a little irish in me (twss)…

  28. elise

yea!! tree hugger — too cute! kombucha drinks are dangerously delicious – proceed with caution. the last thing you wanna become hooked on is a $4/bottle habit. thanks for the sweet comment 🙂

  29. Holly (The Healthy Everythingtarian)

why it took me this long to find your blog is completely beyond me – i’m lovin up on that ‘cado goodness!!!

  31. Graze With Me

  32. elise

    avocado and gena?! never! haha.

  33. elise
