Reminder: BYOM (bring your own mug, that is) to Starbucks on April 15th for a free java
I love that Starbucks is doing their part to make a difference…I mean, I already adore the ‘bucks for their delicious liquid crack, but The Green Project has put them on a whole other level in my book. Hippie approved 🙂
But back to Tuesday…
Weather-wise, it was only moderately spring-y, but I’ll take overcast and warmish over 40 degrees any day.
Brunch was colorful perfection. Fruity much?
Today’s smoothie was loaded with POM, frozen mixed berries, frozen bananas, and ice, ice baby.
After lunch I managed to spend $$$ at Barnes & Noble, Whole Foods, and American Eagle. This may be my last clothing/book allowance for a long time.
While in Union Square, I did indeed buy local 🙂
Apples, apples, and more apples.
I was a bad vegan and bought this Planters trail mix with milk chocolate M&M’s while I was out and about. I finished the bag off back at home. :S I tend to do this when Kyle’s out of town because, as any lactose intolerant person knows (and most others can guess), the results aren’t pretty…
As you can imagine, after all the fruit, nuts, and chocolate, I wasn’t too hungry, so I decided to have an afternoon snack rather than a full meal.
I whipped up some hummus to dip my fresh roll from WF in.
All that was in the hummus was chickpeas, nooch, and EVOO.
After digesting, I did soup box arm exercises for 10 minutes (Imagine’s soups are perfect weights for me). Then I headed to the gym for some elliptical-ing and spinning (30 minutes of each).
Dinner was an adventure into the faux meat world…after Gardein’s iffy textured products I was nervous, but I am happy to report that I LOVED LightLife’s Honey BBQ Smart Wings.
I know it looks suspect in that bag of BBQ shapelessness, but I have to say, this is probably one of the most flavorful and hearty veggie “meats” out there.
I will definitely be buying this again and again.
I added the BBQ “wings” atop a salad of spinach, carrots, broccoli, and red bell peppers. Even though the honey BBQ sauce was enough dressing for the entire bowl, I still added in some hummus, too.
On the side I had a large WW pita covered in hummus and nooch.
Delish.
Kyle got back from LA around midnight and so I made a dessert smoothie for myself and we both watched GLEE!!!
Usually Puck is my #1 glee stud, but I did swoon a bit for Finn during the Beatles’ number (what can I say, I like a man in a suit and skinny tie). Did you watch? How much did you adore Sue Sylvester’s rendition of Vogue? How any of them get through a single take with Jane Lynch without cracking up is beyond me.
Those BBQ wings look SO GOOD. The nutritional facts are mindblowing. I’ll have to look for those 😀
LOVED IT last night! though the doors number w/ finn got me all hot and bothered. (obsessed w/ them and jim morrison.) agreed on sue sylvester…woman is so hysterical; i wouldnt be able to film w/ her in scenes. kinda wish she was one of my aunts or something…
I just bought that same bag of nuts and chocolate for my roomie. I’m trying to get her to eat nuts but she wont unless there’s chocolate in it!
your roomie and i have a lot in common, haha. thats how i finally made my foray into the nut world. still on the fence, but carob chips and raisins help, too 🙂
Whoa, those BBQ wings look ridiculously good – bonus? no bones!
I think they did an awesome job on the Vogue video! 🙂
nice bbq wings my veggie friend! and love all that produce. nice. just wait til u get back to CA you will die and go to local organic CSA heaven 🙂
Haha, when I was doing The Shred I used almond milk jugs for weights…. hey when you go shopping you should show us your clothes! I’m too lazy to go shopping these days but I need to see some cute clothes to inspire me to get out there and spend some moolah…. on the other hand, maybe its best that you DONT show us and my wallet stays intact….
I love Union Square….so fun!
HIIIIIIIIIII LOVEPIE! I’ve missed you a lot because I feel like we haven’t talked in ages. I’ll be writing you an email when I get home later today BUT I have to say I love the looks of those Wings. I totes thought of you when I heard about the Bucks coffee deal today. Would it be wrong to go to all of the Starbucks around here just to stock up? Is that cheating the system!?
I’m a Puck girl too (his version of Sweet Caroline is on my current playlist even though it’s like 1:30 minutes). Vogue killed me though. I literally died.
I adore Jane Lynch. She cracks my shit up!!
Starbucks is doing it today, but so often they make me a drink in their cups, pour it in mine and throw the cups out!!! It frusturates me- Defeats the whole purpose!!
when sue made the asian wok comment about will’s hair, i died. as in, had to pause the tv so i could fall off my chair.
also, I LOVE IDINA MENZEL. i want to have her babies, but oh wait, she already had one with taye diggs (who is arguably hotter than his wife).
I’m definitely getting in on the Free ‘bucks today!
I looove fake chicken. Glad to hear that variety is good. I’ll be on the lookout!
I have definitely juggled 2L water bottles on my runs home from the grocery store in the past! You really are a hippie, which is awesome 😀 I don’t think Canada has jumped on the Gardein bandwagon yet, among many other things, but those look interesting! I am glad you post so many reviews because i would be lost and wouldn’t know about any new products that come out without them! By the way, have you ever tried mixing nooch and other beans (besides chickpeas) to make a “hummus” of sorts? I tried pinto the other day, and let me tell you, WOW! 🙂
Oh, and since i didn’t get to watch Glee until this morning at like 2am before i went to bed… (long story), i can’t help but wonder if i was the only one who could not stop laughing at the line, “What do you say when you answer the phone”, “Nope, she’s dead, this is her son”… Did you catch that?
Okay, so I think I’m the only blogger who doesn’t watch Glee! I feel so out of the loop, I need to get on that!!
I’m kinda skeeved out by most faux-meats, but the honey BBQ flavor sounds interesting enough to redeem any texture weirdness. I’ll keep an eye out for those!!
Milk chocolate is something I’ll probably always eat every once in awhile…I love my sugar too much to ever be %100 vegan!
Hope you’re having a great day love 🙂
That salad looks really good! I’m lactose intolerant – I know EXACTLY what you mean!
that is the simplest hummus known to man! i could easily whip that up here at work. i bought nooch for the first time, finally, and need to use it. i just dont really know how i should.. but that looks like a nice, creamy, hummusy way to start. yes, hummusy is a word. look it up. you’ll see your photo.
Oh man, trail mix is so addictive, even if the results are not haha.
Oh man! I can sooo relate as a fellow lactose intolerant club member. Had a good time with your future hubby. And may I add, I may even be visiting Joe at his restaurant next week. =)
p.s. only saw the Vogue rendition on hulu and I replayed it once more before bed the other night. Jane Lynch is hilarious! “I can be very discrete.”
noooo…..not Glee….why must it be everywhere?! so much happy singing and dancing. i must curl up in my lair and write dark poetry and read sartre.
but smoothies— smoothies are a good idea 🙂
Mmm thanks for the suggestion on the Honey Wings, those look delish. It’s that sort of junk food that I’ve really missed since going veg.
In a side note, I went to high school with “Puck” and I’m still surprised when I see him mentioned, most specificially referenced on your blog I love so much. It’s funny when little worlds collide!
Cheers!
Thanks for the tip on soup box exercises–guess I’ll be picking up some soup next week:)
Good to know you liked those Lightlife wings–those will be next on my list after I finish my box of Gardein goodies.
yeah…that show kills me. i cant even begin to tell you. i have it saved on tivo and have already rewatched it twise. also, i saw date night last night, and i already wanna watch it again bc i was laughing SOOO hard through most of it that i inevitably missed several funny lines. are you done with finals yet? is this happy weekend a premature wish?
oh man – its such a great show!
and as for milk chocolate…i know what you mean. try as i might to enjoy dark chocolate its just too bitter. as long as i have carob on hand im good because thats my fave, but if my sweet tooth is calling, i have a hard time not answering the call with milk chocolate 🙁
i love hummusy…its def a word. at least in the hippie dictionary it is.
yes! sometimes i just want some good ‘ol fashioned processed crap. and i think the smart wings are a far better option than KFC’s latest creation. have you seen the double down? i kinda wanna vomit at the idea of it.
so was puck musically inclined in HS? im always curious about what people were like before doing the acting/singing thing. i have a few friends in the “industry” and its still bizarre seeing their faces on the tv or movie screen. it makes me giggle a bit.
thanks for commenting!
THAT is retarded! why do they do that!?!?! i think they are definitely missing the idea behind the BYOM concept…
i KNOW!!! i love her sooo much. my mom got to see wicked with the OG cast (idina and kristin chenowith)….sooooo jealous!! ive seen it 3 times, but i would see it again in a heartbeat if they were both starring in it again.
im still a bit in shame about it, but once i get over the $$ damage and im in a more flaunt it phase, ill show off the goods 🙂
What was in your dessert smoothie?
spinach, kale, silk light vanilla soymilk, frozen bananas, frozen strawberries, and lots of ice
