First meal

How come I never take photos of breakfast?

I really have no clue, but it might have something to do with the rush of the mornings. Not that we have anywhere to rush off to, but everyone is starving and so the camera is the last thing on my mind.

But here are a few things I did manage to capture.

It feels like 99.999% of our breakfasts are oatmeal these days. And while I’m sure we could never know for sure, I doubt this statistic is that much of an exaggeration. It’s easy to make in advance and the ways to tweak it are infinite so it feels new each day. Between all the nuts, seeds, and dried fruit toppings, there are unlimited ways to make your oats. And that’s not even taking into account the different sweeteners (maple syrup, honey, brown sugar, cane sugar) or flavors (cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate).

Ok, so yay, here are some waffles.

I have made a few batches of waffles lately and then I store them in the freezer so that I can pull them out one by one for myself to top with whatever nut butter du jour I’m feeling.

Is it wrong to make pumpkin bread in summer? Nobody else seemed to mind.

I added chocolate chips to these mini muffins and they served as both breakfast and snack fare all week.

I’ve also gotten back into juicing lately too. Sometimes I really really crave greens in the form of liquids. It must be hormonal because it only happens every once in a while.

More quick bread. I think these loaves were cinnamon banana swirl.

Last but not least, I couldn’t forget the smoothies!

The general formula includes veggies (cauli or zucchini), Vega chocolate protein powder, frozen bananas, and almond milk.

So there are some brekkie ideas. What have you been into lately? You know, besides 8 cups of coffee.
