Because I couldn’t get cinnamon rolls off my brain, it was back to the hotel’s buffet for breakfast!
After eating at other places we came to realize the adult buffet prices are not unreasonable. In fact, with the kids being free, it’s actually kinda a deal. And the best part of all is that P can get a greek yogurt for dosing.
The kids had their first tater tots. P said they taste like french fries. Suddenly he knows what fried foods are! Eek!
I went back for more of nearly everything, including MORE cinnamon roll.
For lunch I got the kale Caesar from Healthy Creations. Kyle wanted to go back to get the same powerhouse smoothie he got before, so I picked out this salad. It was fine, but I was expecting something a little bit more exciting when the menu said “grain free croutons”. Those were more like savory granola crumbles – and barely any to boot. At least he got me extra dressing. He knows what I like need.
Update: P can now swim. What an amazing thing to watch happen! Too bad he will forget when we return to winter in Davis after vacation ends and he doesn’t touch water again for several months.
For dinner we went to Le Papagayo in Leucadia. It has live music every night and almost any kind of food.
The kids split a burger and fries (cringe) and were as happy as could be about it.
Kyle got two entrees – the ribs with an Asian style teriyaki glaze and a fig and bleu cheese flat bread.
He didn’t realize they were going to be massive though, because they were on the happy hour menu…so he decided to save the flat bread for the drive home.
I got the Kalua pork with coconut rice, fried bananas, and grilled pineapple. It was huge so I shared it with the kids.
Unfortunately we left before the music started, but P got to watch them set up (right next to our table) and was soooo curious and into every little detail.
Kyle got me this kombucha, which I had while watching the Crown. It’s a flavor I rarely buy, but felt perfect since, after all, I had a Hawaiian dinner.
I have almost as many pics of birds of paradise as I do food. They’re my favorite flower, and every time I go back to So Cal I’m in heaven. All vacation long I was on the hunt for “the perfect” one.
