I almost titled this post “my love affair with Dave,” but something tells me that if this were the one post title Kyle did choose to read, he wouldn’t be so amused.
That said, I am, in fact, in love.
Just say no to bread on drugs! Please take note of the seedy goodness.
I took several glamour shots, so bear with me (and if you’re curious, yes, it tasted just as good, if not better, than it photographed).
And just what do you suppose I chose to accompany this lovely carb? That, should be a no brainer.
Lunch platter: hummus, red bell pepper, cauliflower, carrots, more hummus, Dave’s Killer Good Seed Flourless Sprouted Wheat Bread and more hummus.
YUM!
I know I went overboard with the photos, but you guys can’t even imagine how effing amazingly tasty this bread was. I would consider moving add this to my already novel-length list of reasons to move back to the west coast.
I want this loaf to last forever. Thank goodness I also have 2 sin-dawgs in the freezer. Thanks SO much to Dave for this awesome giveaway contest (and Heather and Andrea/Erin).
In my haste to post those pretty lunch photos, I forgot to mention brekkie.
As usual, I frothed it up. The AM bowl ‘o granola was atypical, but it worked out last week, so I went for a repeat-er, blueberries and all. This time I heated the granola first, then added the bloobz after – that gave the granola some time to loosen up. I know some people consider this a crime, but I love my cereal/granola mushy. Crunchy Raisin Bran, not for this hippie – let it soak for 5 minutes, then I’m all about it. When I was little I used to completely submerge my cereal (usually a crispix/oatmeal squares/bran flake mix), then leave the room for a while and return to enjoy my soggy bowl of goodness. How do you like your cereal, crunchy, mushy, in between?
After Kyle came home in the afternoon, we headed to Riverside Park to throw the football around. The pre-season games have really gotten me in the football spirit, so I was really excited to take advantage of the nice summer weather and Kyle’s half-day Fridays. I think my arm may be sore tomorrow though.
Snacky McSnackerson was in the house today! I was hungry for a second lunch course after tossing the football around, so my One Lucky Duck leftover sushi stepped up to the plate. How amazing does it look, even a day later? So impressive.
It was (of course) delicious. After lunch #2 Kyle and I headed for a 7 mile run/walk through Central Park. It took us over an hour, and we were sweaty messes when we got back to the apt. It was glorious.
Sunshine, I love you, please don’t ever leave me!
Look at the package that was waiting for me when I got home! It was from my blog sister, and fellow hummus lovers anonymous founder, K. Isn’t she just the sweetest thing in all of the Mitt?! Hummus doesn’t stand a fighting chance in the apartment with all these carbs around (aka the perfect hummus dipping vehicles).
Dinner was weird. Part of it was good, part of it was not good interesting.
Above on the left, is a Heat the Salmon Butt salad (the unsuccessful part of the meal), and on the right is falafel (the savior to the meal).
This salad had raw shredded zucchini (ghetto peeler prepared), broccoli slaw, hummus, and goji berries. Ummm…yeah. I don’t know where this one came from. I guess hummus can’t mask everything. Don’t get me wrong, I ate it all, but it’s not something I’d serve company.
Fal-afel-ly amazing.
I decided to hit the sack early tonight, so I packed my lunch for work (yep, it’s one of THOSE weekends). Me and my contented belly are going to try and get a full 6 hours of zzzz’s before work.
HAHA!! Good call on changing the blog post name 😉
You had leftover sushi?!??! I would have inhaled it all after purchase.
I like my cereal CRUNCHY! I love crunchy bites mixed into smooth oats.
My sister, as a child, used to microwave her Life cereal with milk to achieve mushiness!! Eww.
I’m GF but that bread looks darn good. I love(d) seedy bread when I could eat it. Anyway, I make a vegan granola that I just blogged about yesterday and when I make it, I like it soggy. From coconut milk yogurt. So damn good.
As for your question about the homemade larabars…I crush the nuts with my vitamix. Seriously, in like 8 seconds in any type of food processor/blender, whatever, just a rough chop will do. Then crush up the dates/raisins. Then blend them together by hand. Sticky fun mess. Here’s the post, I regret not photographing the process..next time.

Oh dear, that bread looks tasty. I’ve been in love with Ezekiel for about two weeks now, but Dave’s looks soooo grainy and delicious!
mmmm! I really need to get my hands on that DKB!
ahh i hate the sogg. i put barely a splash of almond milk in my cereal, i like it crunchy fo sho. fun package from lady k! i love her face. boo to working on the weekend~hang in there!
everything looks so delish! 😉 where did you find that pb&j larabar one post down?! i live in new york city as well and can’t find it anywhere!
I’m with you, I love my cereal mushy! Congrats on the seven mile run, I bet you felt great afterwards:)
SOGGGYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! That’s the only way for cereal to be eaten by moi !
Gosh, I would so love to taste Dave’s bread, – but I will bake my own Sin Dawgs, – I mean, I AM GOING TO bake them, yes I AM !!!! (hooray for everydaydish.tv lol)
ahh the wonderful sounds of preseason fball. love it!
I love my cereal when it sliiightly absorbs the milk. It’s hard to get it just right but when it is. It’s PERFECT.
Thank the Lordie for the fallaf that saved the night. Atleast your lucky ducky sush looks delish.
Ha – goji berries on your salad…yes, totally Heat the Salmon Butt worthy…but I would have eaten it as well. You know how I love my crazy combos.
Oh my gosh…that bread!!!! The picture where you’re holding it covered in hummus, and I can see the pumpkin seeds. I must order some or drive out to Oregon and buy a loaf…Two day drive for that bread? I’d do it.
Hummus Lovers Anonymous? Why did I not know about this? Where do the meetings take place? 😉
Good luck at work this weekend. Hope you don’t get any crazy patients!
Ugh…I just died. Seedy, doughy, thick and luscious, smothered with hummus – you’re killin’ me smalls! PLUS you got sin-dawgs? Jealous doesn’t even begin to describe what I’m feeling.
Crunchy girl through and through! You are too nice – I mean the Mitt doesn’t have a lot to offer these days but thanks for calling me the sweetest thing 🙂 I’ll gladly enable the hummus addiction ANY DAY! Now we just need some of that dessert hummus and we could eat mashed chickpeas morning, noon, and night!
I. NEED. THAT. BREAD.
Ok, I have heard so much about Dave’s bread lately but I had no idea what made it so special until this photo! It looks so thick and delicious! 🙂
Cereal…gosh, I like it ANY way. I probably prefer it with the in-between amount of milk, not too soggy 😉
CRUNCHY!!!!!!! (Does that answer the question? ;))
<3 <3
I’m so jealous of your DKB!!!!! I’ve never seen that in my stores…. if you get sick of it, feel free to send some my way 😉
oh my god it was such a hunt!!! they were in the union square WF on the left wall of the non-express line….literally the very very bottom. oh, and there was only one box with half remaining. i hope they restock soon!!
incidentally, where do you live, bc they are opening a new WF right next to me on the UWS (96th and Columbus) – and I bet when they open in a week it will be MAY-JOR-LY stocked up. can you tell how excited i am!?!
that frigging s+m salad was insanely delish and filled me right up. im in love with it. i want it every night now…i now know why you have eaten it so many times…why stray from such a perfect meal?
your sissie is my kinda girl!!! mushy life…mmm…my mouth is watering, hahaha
haha…you need to come to nyc. we will have the first official HLA meeting (hummus lovers anonymous). or should we go with HAA (hummus-a-holics anon?)
I am so happy you liked it. Not that I had any doubts because it is seriously THE BEST BREAD EVER.
That bread looks so good! I want to do naughty, naughty things to it.
you weren’t joking…im SO glad i won. i want it to last foreverrrrrr
total mushy girl here. In fact, I used to make a breakfast concoction as a child called “mush.” It consisted of far too many graham crackers soaked in lots of milk. Perfect for watching Saturday morning cartoons:)
you may be onto something there…the name needs some work though. how about cracker soup? no? ok, ill keep brainstorming…
i’ll have to make the trip up there to check it out! i live downtown near washington square park, so i plan to run to the US WF tomorrow and look for the new larabar flavors. i found tropical fruit tart, which was good, but i’m holding out for pb&j 🙂
also, did you hear about the whole food’s organic wine shop that’s coming (i guess in the new location)? http://racked.com/archives/2009/08/10/oh_wholly_foods_the_wine_will_soon_flow_at_uws_whole_foods.php must check out!

oh beautiful E-leeessie! I love how your hummus is a staple of your dietizzle. It is by far the most consummed kind of snackage that the Brit and I go to pre-dinners. Happy one year!
p.s. your blog is now part of my daily, java, email and weather check routine in the a.m.s
haha, LOVE it 🙂 so in lieu of a wedding cake, ill just dig into a massive tub of hummus! (jk!)…kinda?
