This is where the good stuff is.
Nana’s cookies have always been my absolute favorite. I’ve tried MANY dairy free desserts, and there’s always something a little bit off about the flavor/texture/whatever, but not with Nana’s. They are SO soft and chewy. They bend like they are fresh out of the oven and literally have a gooey center that makes you wonder if there’s some kind of magic involved in Nana’s recipe. I’m not exaggerating when I say they are completely perfect in every way. I’m convinced there is no better cookie. Anywhere. Oh, and did you know they are certified gluten free? Yeah.
They are also vegan, sweetened with 100% natural fruit juice.
Last week I got a big package in the mail…and quickly dug in. The coconut chip was the first flavor I tried because I had never seen it before in stores.
It had a subtle coconut flavor with a soft baked oaty texture.
They were unbelievably moist and chewy. Unbelievable, as in, I couldn’t believe I was eating a packaged cookie. I can’t be any more enthusiastic about it.
The cookie is sweet, but in a mellow way that makes you want to eat a dozen more in one sitting. And the occasional chocolate chip puts the yum factor over the edge.
The next cookie I tried was peanut butter.
Just like the rest of Nana’s cookies, it was vegan and delicious.
Every time I try a new flavor I swear it’s my favorite one. And this has happened with the last 4 flavors I’ve tried. So if you ask me which is my favorite, I’d have to say all of them. Or whichever one I had just had. Or whichever one I was about to have. Seriously. I could never choose.
Peanut butter is one of them.

My mom used to make home-made gingerbread like cookies, which the whole family loved so much, that even our cats were driven crazy, when she put them in the oven:) I remember myself being able to eat like 20 in one sitting! Unfortunately they were not vegan, so they are no more an option for me (and mom in no more that fond of spending her day in front of the oven:))
I recently tried the Nana’s chocolate chip, and had pretty low expectations–I don’t usually like packaged cookies, and a gluten-free cookie did not even sound possible. With the first bite I had to re-read the package to be sure I picked up the right one! It was SO good! I haven’t stopped thinking about that cookie since!

My favorite cookie is dreena burtons homestyle chocolate chip cookie (that I’ve made) but love the holistic chocolate chip cookie by kookie karma…so coconutty! I am sure the coconut chip nana cookie is delicious!
My fav are super charge me cookies! They are actually so tasty even though they’re healthy and filled with flax!
A cookie memory…hmmm probably when I used to eat them in college with my roomie between classes in cold boston with tea to dip them in and get all melty.
I absolutely LOVE all-chocolate cookies… those fudgy-wudgy bars are screaming my name. And those are all fruit-juice sweetened?! Spectacular!

I remember going to my grandma’s house, and she would bake these MASSIVE cookies that were literally the size of my head. She’d slather them in rocky road and my brother and I would eat ourselves into a sugar coma!

one of my best memories of my father is also one of my favorite cookie memories. i was 6 at the time and my father took on the formidable task of teaching me how to ride a bike. god bless him he had no idea how uncoordinated his daughter was. well let’s just say 2 hours, 3 crying fits (on my part although i wouldn’t have blamed him if he joined in) and 1 broken side view car mirror later we were both on the verge of defeat. that’s when out of nowhere my dad whips up the most amazing batch of white chocolate chip and macadamia nut cookies – they’re still the best cookies i’ve ever had. ultimately i didn’t learn how to ride a bike that day, but those cookies sure cheered me up and made me keep trying, which did lead to eventual success on the bike!

When I was little my mom and I used to bake this awesome cookies with yoghurt and cinnamon and we both thought that those were the beste cookies EVER.
Then one year we did not find the recipe and both couldn’t really remember what was in it and how you made them.
Years later the internet happened. I knew in which women’s magazine the recipe was published and I was looking for the recipe for hours. And I FOUND it! So amazing! These cookies really are the best!

During high school track, people I didn’t know would call me Cookie Girl because after meets, I’d always have a bag of cookies my mom had made that everyone would fight over. Kids literally fought over who would get to take the empty bag full of crumbs lol.
Holy snickerdoodles! This is a dangerous post! My favorite cookie forever and always will be the soda cookies my great grandma made. I have absolutely no idea what the ingredients are though because the recipe is not just a well guarded family secret…it’s a secret from everyone but grammy! My favourite cookie has to be peanut butter and chocolate, nothing beats it for me! But I have to say Nana’s Coconut Chip also looks awfully tempting.
A cookie memory… Oh boy. I’ve always liked to experiment in the kitchen, when my friends all had easy-bake ovens I was already using the actual oven. But as you can imagine, my creations weren’t always a success. I once added about 1/4 cup of baking soda to a small batch of “sugar cookies” and my mom being the kind loving lady she is, feigned enjoyment only to sprint to the kitchen sink with unbearable nausea 5 seconds later. Lesson learned at 6 years old.

One of my favorite memories of baking cookies when I was little is from Christmas time. My Dad and I would do it together. We’d get flour everywhere because they were the roll cookies and the dough was always sticky. (Now I still make them as a Christmas gift for him and my Mom, trying to steer clear of any flour!)

ANYWAY, my fave is the chocolate cookie crunch. I like to freeze it actually and break off pieces and put it in vegan ice cream and make “cookies n cream!” so freaking good!
My favorite cookie memory is a bit of a disaster. When I was 8 my mom left town on a business trip and my dad decided to spend time with my brother and I by making peanut butter cookies. So we broke out the kids cooking book n got down to business making cutout people for everyone on our family. Unfortunately, my dad is NOT a baker and had no concept that cookies expand in the oven so when we opened the oven, they had overtaken the cookie sheet and were no longer cookies, but one huge cookie blob. My brother cried that his “person” was destroyed but my dad was clever to distract us with frosting and sprinkles and we ate cookie blob for breakfast, dinner and lunch that day. I felt so sick! But we still laugh about it and I have never been able to look at a peanut butter cookie the same since!
My favorite cookies are “garbage cookies” where you basically throw in every cookie-appropriate ingredient you have on hand!

My cousin and I once tried making those chocolate chip cookies from a simple mix for Christmas but ended up eating the whole batch while it was still in dough form. I’ll never forget that night..or the fact that we didn’t get salmonella. 😛
omg. the first time I tried to make cookies on my own were the like brownie-cookies made out of brownie mix type. and i was in a rush to get to my friends house with the cookies, and they weren’t done yet, so i took them out of the oven and brought them to my friends house still raw thinking i could continue cooking them there, it did not work at all. #fail

One of my favorite cookie memories is from when I was just old enough to make cookies “all by myself” – I was pouring the flour into the mixing bowl and accidentally dumped flour allll over my dog (who was, of course, standing by my feet waiting for a treat) – good thing he is a white dog! My friend Jason and I always made cookies together when we were in highschool, and would fight over the best recipe and “technique” for our oatmeal cookies. He passed away 2 1/1 years ago, and now whenever I make oatmeal cookies, I am reminded of him and all those good natured arguments, and cookie-dough fueled tummy aches!
Mmm there is a store by my office that sells Nana’s and it takes a LOT of willpower not to drop by for a lunch dessert everyday. The chocolate chip tastes like cookie dough, and therefore, is my favorite.
I have strong memories of my mom making a ton of butter cookies each Christmas and making extra for my dad to bring to his work friends. This was during the “fat is bad” phase of the 90s, so it was always an especially big deal that my mom was using real butter rather than margarine.

I’m not sure if I misunderstood your post, but NOT all of Nana’s cookies are gluten free. Actually, the first ingredient on both of the labels you have pics of is wheat flour. I checked the website and there are 4 gluten free cookies but not the ones you blogged about. I apologize if I misunderstood but I too have trouble finding gf, vegan cookies and those two flavors sounded fantastic.

I love oatmeal raisin cookies! They are THE BEST.
I love Nana’s too, but the flavors you blogged about are definitely not gluten-free. I am gluten-free and the only flavors I can have are the chocolate/fudge, lemon, ginger and berry vanilla. Just thought you should know so people who have celiac’s or are gluten intolerant like me are not mislead! I’ve been wishing Nana would make a gluten-free chocolate chip or coconut chip though… I’ve even written to the company! Ah well, fingers crossed… 🙂

one homemade cookie memory was when i tried to make homemade chinese fortune cookies to stuff w/ my own fortunes for a friend’s birthday party. turns out those suckers are hard to make … needless to say, i ended up buying a bag and stuffing my fortunes in through the little cracks! 🙂

Every year on Christmas Eve, my family makes sugar cut-out cookies and frosts them elaborately. It is always somewhat of a competition to see who can make the most intricate cookie design. However, the best results always happen during the first 30 minutes of decorating. After that, everyone seems to get a little tired of frosting, and the cookies are more likely to be covered with a quick smear of frosting and some sprinkles 🙂
I will never forget making peanut butter cookies with my late grandma. Every time I went to her house (about a 2 hour drive.. we went every month or so), one of the first things we would do is make those cookies. Then she’d put them in her cookie jar to enjoy all weekend. Peanut Butter cookies always remind me of her!

One of my favorite cookie memories is from this past Christmas. My aunt, sisters, step mom and I stayed up extremely late trying to decorate sugar cookies that made a 3D Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer set up. It was so time consuming but we laughed and made so many memories that night.

Last year in December I went crazy baking cookies. I needed to make 6 dozen to take to a cookie party but I had so many good recipes to try. I ended up making 6 dozen of one kind, and then 1 batch each (1 – 2 dozen) of 5! other recipes. Luckily I froze the unbaked leftovers so that we didn’t go into a sugar coma and gain 20 pounds each.

One of my favorite cookie memories occurred when I was very young – maybe 6 years old or so? I’ll never forget… I accidentally switched the ratios for sugar and salt, using 1/2 tsp sugar and 1 c salt!!

A home-made cookie memory:
I remember making peanut butter cookies with my mom when I was little. My favorite part was squishing down the cookies with a fork to give them the classic criss-cross pattern on top! Then I would eat a few hot from the oven dipped in cold milk. Good times.
Hands down, my favorite cookie is homemade oatmeal cranberry! Of course, I think only about half of the dough makes it into the oven!

My favorite cookie memory is my grandma’s cookie jar. Whenever we visited, the jar would be full, of not just one kind, but a variety of homemade goodies. Looking in the cookie jar was always one of the first things I would do when we arrived 🙂

Every year my mom always waits for me to get home for Christmas to bake dozens upon dozens of different cookies to take to various parties and give to friends and family. It takes us all day and I always look forward to that day of catching up just the two of us, laughter and LOTS of raw cookie dough 🙂

One of my best friend is an awesome baker, so when I was leaving for a mission trip during march break, she baked me a whole batch for the plane ride! I never told her what my favourite kind of cookie was but she knew: oatmeal + chocolate chip + cashews! Now, whenever I go over to her house, we bake them together!
My little sister and I were helping my mom make a ton of Russian wedding cookies (with powdered sugar) one Christmas. When she went to answer the door for the UPS guy, we decided to have a food fight. She came back and we had decorated the kitchen with 3 bags of powdered sugar–it was a white christmas! 🙂

I love good ol’ chocolate chip cookies, warm and straight from the oven!
A cookie memory? Here’s a recent one–cooking at college (without a full kitchen, a pantry stuffed with all the fun ingredients I have at home, and with only the bare minimum as to cooking supplies) is always an adventure. My friend and I recently made improvised vegan sweet potato oatmeal breakfast cookies, mostly because we ran out of flour. They were still absolutely delicious, though!
fav cookie as a kid were rainbow cookies, they’re so pretty. I’m not sure what my favorite is now, but anything with chocolate is a heck yes from me
it’s hard to think of a cookie memory but I think I remember making thumbprint cookies with my aunts and grandma? I mostly have memories of eating cookies, haha

One of my cookie memories…when I was in high school and would stay over at my friends house, we would take toll house cookie dough and make 1 HUGE cookie! Mind you, we would do this around midnight…can you say sugar rush!!!

I recently messed up an entire sheet of cookies and no matter what I did I could not get them to harden…so the boyfriend and I smooshed it all together into one monsterous glob of half-baked goo and went to town with 2 spoons. Pretty awesome mess-up.

one year, my mom and i were making chocolate chocolate chip cookies for my sister’s birthday. i was about 7, and had an insatiable craving for cookie dough (i mean, who doesn’t?). the entire time we were baking, i was stealing finger-swipes of dough on the sly…or so I thought. just as the cookies were going in the oven, my mother looked up and saw my face–covered in chocolate dough. i even had it in my hair! needless to say: busted.
I’ve always been intrigued by those cookies when I see them at Whole Foods–so glad to hear you liked them!

I have tons of food allergies (wheat, dairy, eggs, soy, cane sugar) so I was so excited when I found Nana’s Cookies! Going to more natural sugar substances is fine (versus high fructose corn syrup) but I wish that more places would embrace using other sweeteners like Nana’s does with their fruit juice sweetener! There are people like me out there who are allergic to cane sugar and there are tons of other natural sweeteners out there! That being said, I’m torn between the Berry Vanilla cookies and the Chocolate Munch cookies as being my favorite! And as for my favorite cookie making memory, has to be from all the Christmas’s I’ve made cookies for or with family. It started as a family tradition with my mom and sister when we were little and I have carried it on since then!

One of my favorite memories is watching my kids decorate cookies at Christmas time for Santa Claus. They would carefully cut out the cookies, decorate them with sprinkles and leave them out on Christmas Eve with a glass of milk for Santa Claus.

I have a hardcore love for cowboy cookies (oatmeal, peanut butter, chocolate chips, pecans, and coconut…) or my Best friends blueberry white chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. 🙂
One of my favorite cookie baking memories was with my babysitter when i was around 9 or 10. We made homemade sugar cookies and then she gave me the food coloring and let me “tie dye” them after they were done baking. Such a mess but so much fun!

i have very fond memories of chocolate chip pecan oatmeal cookies… consumed warm out of the oven, as glorious gobs of dough, for breakfast the next morning with milk (because i was a masochist… but a happy one!)
i’m now vegan, and about a thousand times healthier than i was in times of cookie overconsumption… but cookie memories remind me of the women in my family, and girly sleep overs spent indulging in sugar and gilmore girls marathons. soooo sweet.

My grandmother used to make homemade cookies with my little sister and me when we were young ‘uns 🙂 we’d pile on the icing and sprinkles into a big, gross mess and give them to her to eat. She was such a good sport!

When I was little, I used to help my mom bake cookies and when she wasn’t looking I would sneak the dough and eat it with my long hair covering my face. I thought if I couldn’t see her, she wouldn’t be able to see me. She still embarrasses me with that story today! 🙂

My very favorite cookie of all time is one that I buy every week from Whole Foods in Austin… it’s called a Big John cookie. It’s vegan and incredibly addicting! Gooey center: check! Extra dark chocolate chunks: check! Loaded with chocolate: check! Delicious: double check!
I haven’t ever seen them at any other WF, so if you’re ever in Austin, be sure and pick one up from the flagship store. Oh, they also sell the cookie dough in the frozen section. 🙂

i loved making no bake cookies with my dad when i was younger! setting the timer to have the ingredients boil for exactly 1 1/2 minutes- no more no less! and then transferring to some parchment paper and waiting for them to cool down enough to be solid.
if you didn’t time it right you’d end up having to scrape them up with a spoon and eat them- they still tasted delicious though!
