After a fairly miserable red-eye flight, Kyle and I returned to our 10 degree apartment Monday morning. 🙁 With a list of errands longer than the Gettysburg address and a brain still on a mental vacay, it goes without saying…I felt a bit overwhelmed. It didn’t help that I couldn’t stop shivering for the first 2 hours. I finally had to take a shower to get my body temp back to a normal range. After a piping hot cup of cocoa (the apartment is coffee-less!!) I unpacked, laundered, made a grocery list…and STILL felt like… Read more >

As promised, here is a more thorough recap of the first dinner with my parents. I like taking non-vegans to Blossom because the menu is impressive for vegans and non-vegans alike. They have interesting dishes that showcase a variety of non-meat “proteins” including seitan, tempeh, and tofu, as well as a few raw options and yet they aren’t presented in an ostentatious way. I love when restaurants have diversity in their menus without an air of arrogance about them. Unassuming and delicious. It took no time for us all to find something on the menu… Read more >

My parents were in town this weekend! :D They arrived Saturday in the wee early hours and left yesterday (Tuesday afternoon)…and although they were only here for four days (two of which I had to work 12 hour shifts) we still had so much fun. I was definitely sad to see them go, but I feel pretty lucky that I was able to see them at all. As I’m sure you’ve heard/read by now, the East Coast weather wasn’t so kind this weekend. Saturday and Sunday were quite the snow-filled days, which were BEYOND brrrrr… Read more >

J’adore all the recent commenters! Keep delurking peeps, it’s great hear from ya :) My love cup is full (yes, I just quoted Vicki, cringe). After the (above) overflowing frothy cuppa java, I was at a serious crossroads. I wanted more caffeine, but I also wanted chocolate. Such a dilemma! Solution: MOCHA! I combined coffee, Chatfield’s cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and agave nectar. It was heavenly. I mistakenly took a sip before taking a photo (which was only a mistake because it was SO dang good that half the cup was in my tummy… Read more >

It’s no wonder people are scared of their significant other’s parents; with movies like Meet the Parents, in-laws get a pretty bad rap. Fortunately for me, this stereotype couldn’t be further from the truth. I just got back from a weekend+ getaway with Kyle’s family and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be joining his family than if they were the sole heirs to the Whole Foods chain. Not only are they amazingly accepting of my vegan lifestyle, but they go above and beyond to accommodate it, to the point of straight up spoiling me!… Read more >
