I’ll make this brief since this is what I’m up against… Hippie tip #1: Buy and sell (or give away) used moving boxes on craigslist before and after you move. Earth friendly and cheap. Here we are in our (old) backyard with a passed out babe and movers schlepping patio furniture. P was clearly not stressed out by the packing process. On the contrary, he slept probably 30 of the 36 hours that we were transitioning from one home to the next. He just looooves being held, and since we had no furniture… Read more >

Kyle’s been taking day trips away for business, which leaves me and P home alone together. I realize this is how most new moms function after their spouse’s paternity leave ends (if they even get any!), but for me it’s a whole new learning curve. Fortunately, my little guy is making leaps and bounds each and every day, so I can utilize the crib in the nursery (and video monitor) and boppy pillow (which neither of us were ready for during his first month of life). His neck is getting really strong and he’s… Read more >

As I alluded in the last post, we had a road trip planned for the next day in Nor Cal. Boy oh boy are we pushing our luck with all these long car rides with an infant! But this is what he does most of the time so we are really lucky (so far). Fingers crossed. I packed lots of food for us so we could hit the road early (basically right after we had both showered and I’d breastfed P). Kyle and I both had similar breakfasts, but his was sandwiched between some… Read more >

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! No pinching allowed here 🙂 In honor of my little man…and our Irish roots…I’ll share a bunch of recent [green] eats. As you’ll soon see, I have been in a major kale rut. And salad rut. Neither are bad things. 😛 Salad heaven #1: chard, romaine, tomatoes, carrots, avocado, & Sabra’s seasonal rosemary and olive oil hummus Expo West sample: Brad’s kale chips Vegetarian “chorizo” and kale rice casserole (recipe coming for this one because oh my gaaaaahhhh) Salad heaven #2: kale, romaine, tomatoes, carrots, avocado and 365 sesame goddess dressing… Read more >

Sunday is typically when we do our weekly grocery shopping. I usually brainstorm meals for the week on Saturday, asking Kyle for input (like if he’s craving something in particular that he wants me to make in the next few days) and then I create a grocery list that includes all the necessary ingredients (plus whatever things have already been added to the list throughout the week). We usually drag our feet all weekend long, waiting until Sunday evening to go to Whole Foods, because we both loathe shopping (I’m not sure when this developed… Read more >
