Home is where the health is

Whenever I go home to visit my parents I’m reminded about how lucky I am to have been raised with health in the forefront.  The importance of eating well and staying active was a given, so I have never seen wellness as a chore.  Eating balanced meals and participating in sports were, quite simply, just the norm.  I now know that I was very fortunate to have grown up this way.  Thank you mom and dad!  Prior to my arrival, my mom had been to TJs to restock the bar stash.    And hummus stash…. Confucius says

Some days of work just rock.  Plain and simple.  I leave the hospital feeling like I’m so lucky to have found a job that I not only enjoy, but that allows me to help people.  What’s that saying?  ”Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”  [Confucius]  Yesterday was a great day.  There wasn’t anything extraordinary about it.  In terms of my patient load, it was pretty average.  And yet, I left the hospital feeling so completely content with the 12 hours I had just finished. … Read more >

Winter in March

In November I was bragging about how great the 80 degree weather was.  And then in January I was happily soaking up the sun’s rays on the beach.  And now it’s March and the weather is cold and dreary!?  What gives? Sweet tooth cravings

This weather is truly fantastic, I’m so glad I don’t work again for a few days.  Thursday was a pretty exciting work day thanks to my patient with blood glucose levels vacillating between 480 and 37.  The twelve hours flew by so quickly I hardly found time to eat everything I packed.   Kinda in love with these organic dried mangos.  I used to snack on them all the time, but then I forgot about them.  My sweet tooth is very much into dried fruit, and even though the mango looks like raw cattle hide,… Read more >
