Worker bee

I’ve been busy busy busy working this week…and even though I haven’t exercised for even half a second (blah), it’s all worth it because I get to spend the weekend with some fantastic friends. My packed lunches have been incredible if I do say so myself.  Satisfying my every want and need – sweet, savory, crunchy, creamy – you name it, I packed it.  It’s all about options people.  The main ingredients in these Heart Thrive cookies were oats, brown rice syrup, brown rice flour, rice bran, natural fruit juices, and lots of dried fruit… Read more >

$$ in your pocket

On my days off, I like to sleep in.  The first thing I do upon waking up is wash my face and brush my teeth.  But less than a second after, I make coffee. All while enjoying coffee.  Coffee topped with froth and cocoa, to be exact.  At least, that’s what I did on Friday. I also had the last piece… Read more >

BYOL

One of the easiest ways to make sure you eat well and save money is bringing your own food to work.  I’m practically a pro at packing meals to-go because I work at a job that requires it.  As a nurse, I’m often squeezing snacks and meals in whenever I can.  Unlike my days off, when I can eat whenever I’m hungry, the timing of my meals at work is instead based on my patients’ stability.  In NYC, I brought my lunch every single day.  If you add it up, those 2 1/2 years of… Read more >

Presents all around

I had a really great weekend – thanks for all your sweet birthday wishes. Presents! Kyle got me YogaWorks classes – something I’ve been “meaning to try” for almost half a decade now…haha.  My sister was obviously inspired by our dinner at RFD because she got me the official cookbook.  I’m so excited to crack into this baby!  So many delicious recipes.  Thanks sister 🙂 Like any other day, I started with coffee… A huge frothy mug. Breakfast was atypically savory.  In this bowl, leftover roasted butternut squash, leftover chickpea salad, and a chopped apple. … Read more >

It all evens out

Last week I had one of those days where my appetite just wouldn’t quit.  I hate those kinds of days, honestly.  They either mean my metabolism is psychotically fast (here’s hoping!) or I’m nursing a tapeworm (shudder).  Unfortunately, I didn’t handle it in a healthy or mindful way.  My stomach seemed to be growling constantly, so I took advantage of it and (ultimately) went overboard.  I wasn’t going to blog about it (because, quite frankly, the actual eats weren’t exactly newsworthy), but then I realized how I reacted the following day was worth sharing with… Read more >
