Thursday through Monday I was in our nation’s capital. Some of the highlights (full stories to come): 1. If anyone is traveling through LAX or DCA in the near future, you may see my photo posted on a wanted sign. I broke bent the law and as much as I want to tell you all about it, I should probably speak to my lawyer before I post anything on the internet. 😉 Ok, I’m just kidding. What happened was I forgot to bring my wallet with me – including my ID – and had… Read more >

At Expo West, I came across a company I’d never heard of before called Pure Market Express. They were super friendly and offered me samples of raw vegan chocolate truffle pie in a little shot glass. How could I not fall in love immediately? I know. It seems too good to be true. But I swear, it’s not a hologram. That beauty is the real deal. I enjoyed the shooter and went on my way, dreaming of the day I’d recreate something similar in my own kitchen. A week or so later I got… Read more >

First thing I did when I got up was inhale deeply. Even though our bedroom is upstairs, the aromas from the kitchen still make their way up to us overnight. Especially when I make bread right before bedtime. I took a few slices of each for breakfast (and general morning snacking). Excellent. I don’t have photos of all my work food. Earlier this week my unit threw a huge retirement party for one of my coworkers. She has been a nurse for 33 years. 33 years! Can you even imagine?!? Naturally, she had a ton of colleagues friends to give her a royal send off. Staff members who had long since retired came to wish her well (they were joking that they were in Florence Nightingale’s class). It was such a special thing to see, so I can only guess how much it meant to her. When I was hired, there were rumors of her (then… Read more >

This photo really doesn’t give an accurate picture of my day’s eats because it looks the same as all my other days of pre-packed meals. I had a rough morning (no workout, only 1/2 a cup of coffee) made rougher by the fact that my patients were not doing well. I had one person trying to code on me (HR 40s, SBP 180s, O2 70s) while another was trying to get to the bathroom to throw up (with his broken & non-weight-bearing L hip). I basically had to ignore the puking patient and get my… Read more >
