Birthdays and berries

We just got back from an EPICALLY awesome vacation, but before I recap our adventures, I have to first touch on some of the fun we had during the week in between. Last I left off…we had returned from LA and were trying to get our lives back together…it was sunny for a second, which was AMAZING, but then it rained again for the rest of the week. Lame. First off, Kyle had to head right back to LA for work…pretty sure he’s seen enough of the I-5 this year and it’s only just starting…… Read more >

#halftheplate

I have a ton of food photos. Maybe some of these will give you some meal inspo! Warning: there are a lot of salads. Have you heard of the #halftheplate challenge? It’s easy peasy if you love veggies. The idea is to make half of your plate (at whatever meal) comprised of fruit and vegetables. The one hard one is breakfast, but spring and summer should make it easier if you are into juice and/or smoothies. They’re basically all fruit anyway, so you’ll hardly notice some greens thrown in…and then boom, you get a massive… Read more >

Raindrops on roses

We had three days of the most BEAUTIFUL weather…clear blue skies, 60 degree temps, and we spent every second that we could outside. I even let Valley skip her naps it was so delightful to be out in the sunshine! But now the rain is back. <– NOT one of my favorite things. We had a pretty busy weekend with birthday parties, (THREE!) choir performances, and Kyle going out of town. My parents came for… Read more >

Our latest

This month’s co-op cooking class was “tea” themed…which meant they made tea sandwiches, scones, and raspberry tea. The sandwiches had ‘rainbow’ cream cheese inside, which was achieved by mixing in shredded carrots, bell peppers, scallions, and I don’t recall what else…as well as sliced cucumbers and radishes. Shockingly, they put everything INCLUDING THE SCALLIONS into their sandwiches. And NOT shockingly, they were once again the only kids at the table to polish off every single crumb on their plates. Scones, too! And how cute are these kitty cat scones!?!? They used orange zest to make… Read more >

A goodbye to Newport Beach

I had a three day no dessert streak FYI. But then I started trying to write something for my G-ma’s memorial… And in you case you were wondering…See’s Maple Cashew Brittle is out.stand.ing. I ate this whole thing in one serving. With that, you may guess how well I was (not) coping leading up to my G-ma’s memorial. Normally I’d say writing about my feelings would be therapeutic, but I LITERALLY CANNOT WRITE when it comes to this subject. I tried multiple times in the weeks leading up to this to put something on paper… Read more >
