Kiwi cure

I browse the health section of the Huffington Post online almost every day.  It’s one of my favorite online sources because they have an assortment of lighter stories mixed in with more controversial opinions pieces.  Today I read about a study in which IBS sufferers who ate two kiwis a day for 4 weeks found they had significant relief in irritable bowel related symptoms (most notably constipation).  Interesting. How cool would it be if the solution to all my GI woes were as simple as enjoying a couple of kiwis on a daily basis? Needless… Read more >

Hola Sevilla

My flight(s) to Spain were long.    I didn’t know it at the time, but in hindsight I can appreciate how lucky I was with both my seat assignment and the airline accommodations.  I managed to snooze through a majority of the first leg of the trip (from SFO to Philly).  In PA, my layover was just over an hour.  I think that’s the perfect amount of time between flights – bathroom, booze, board. Mickey mornings

Isn’t it ironic?

I’ve been feeling like crap since returning from Nor Cal, which I’m guessing is my body trying to tell me any number of things… 1. Please let me rest now that you’ve finished this triathlon training business. 2. Please stop feeding me crap (see below). 3. I’m sick, it happens. I’m sure there’s a bit of truth to all three of these statements, but the third one is definitely the main factor.  It’s true.  I’m sick.  Wah wah.  I hate being ill because I eat crap, ditch all forms of exercise, and feel no remorse… Read more >

My first triathlon

I was always vaguely interested in doing a triathlon.  It was one of those things in the back of my mind that I thought sounded fun and intrigued me.  But, to be perfectly honest, I didn’t really envision it as a solo mission.  I clearly needed a push from an outside source.  A few months ago my dad forwarded me an email for a discount on a sprint triathlon.  I think the only thing he wrote in the body of the email was “are you joining me?” A few things went through my mind as… Read more >
