The evolution of my grocery list

This post is semi-embarrassing, but was fun to reflect on and write.  I don’t eat a “perfect” diet now (whatever that means), nor will I ever, but I’ve come a LONG way in the past decade. *** I didn’t live in an apartment until my senior year of college.  Before that I was in the dorms or the sorority house.  We all know what dorm life is like…needless to say, moving to a gorgeous mansion with tons of girlfriends was a big upgrade.  And although living with a million other females wasn’t always such a… Read more >

A Thanksgiving Abroad

This post is from my sister, who just hosted her first Thanksgiving. In Australia.    [Disclaimer: I wrote this on a computer with British English spell check, hence all of the non-American spellings of words…] It’s not easy to host your first Thanksgiving feast – let alone doing it in a foreign country. I heart holiday food

This year, I’ll be going to: 3 Thanksgivings 2 Christmases 1 holiday party Which means my foodie brain has been in overdrive since October.  What to make, what to make, hmmm… Here’s what I look for in a recipe: Does it call for ingredients I have on hand/use often? (I don’t like buying a rare/expensive item for one recipe that I’ll never use again) Do I like all the ingredients in the recipe? (Seems obvious) Will I have to/am I able to make any substitutions?  (If a recipe calls for dairy, I can swap that… Read more >

Weeks 13-26

In all honesty, the majority of the second trimester was awesome.  My energy was much better, I had an appetite for quality food (like my old self!), and I got in a decent amount of regular exercise.  But it definitely had it’s annoying parts, too.  I almost feel like weeks 13 through 26 of pregnancy should be further divided into three parts – the beginning, the middle, and the end – because they were so different.  For me, at least. The beginning. Reaching week 13 of pregnancy was a big deal (even though it really… Read more >
