My highlights: week 21

Hopefully P will be better at sharing than his parents.  But seriously, I think the key to a happy marriage is separate dessert stashes.  Don’t try to steal my chocolate!   We went for a family hike to Avery Pond.  We met up with a few other families and even though the hike started around P’s nap time, we coordinated the drive so he’d fall asleep on the way there.  We hit up the bux and he got an hour of shut eye.  Win win. We also stopped at the Roseville WF on the way home because,… Read more >

Dinners and dinners and dinners

More menus coming your way…ready? Sorghum and broccoli with cashew/squash “cheese” sauce I really like sorghum a lot!  And broccoli is Kyle’s favorite veggie so we were both super into it. I have basically all of Jessica’s salads bookmarked.  Um, seriously?  Are these ingredients magical?   BLT chopped yum in my face.  Kyle was moaning through each and every bite too.  It’s a keeper! Avocado and cantaloupe salad with poppyseed dressing.  OMG this salad.  Three times already in the past month.   For those who asked my mom made this all the time when we were growing up (I totally… Read more >

Munchkin Mash-ups

Mr. P is all over the place with his appetite and cravings.  I think that’s pretty typical for little ones.  Some days I feel bad that he’s not getting very diverse meals, but he doesn’t seem to mind, so oh well. Similar to the problem that Lara mentioned, Patty-cakes doesn’t seem to like anything “assembled”.  I make lots of allergy friendly meals for the 2 (3) of us, but he doesn’t want them in they’re completed form.  Instead, he will often eat the ingredients separately (mise en place style as I prep).  I think he dislikes the… Read more >

Nothing better

Even on the crazy overwhelming days, there’s nothing better. I love being a mom. And I’m so lucky to have an amazing role model to show me the ropes. Now those are some great looking genes. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all the mamas!

Quick bread for little fingers

I made this bread for me and P thinking he’d do what he always does – try it, like a few bites, but ultimately be over it by the 4th bite forevermore.  NOPE!  Little man took this loaf down in two days with not much help from mama (which was a difficult sacrifice on my end because it was gooooood). Coconut Flour Banana Bread [vegetarian, gluten free, grain free, nut free, soy free, dairy free] Ingredients: 3 large super ripe bananas, mashed 3 eggs 1/4 cup applesauce 2 tbsp coconut oil 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp… Read more >
