My highlights: week 31

Long time!  We ditched the mainland for a family vacay in Hawaii this past week to celebrate my dad’s 60th birthday.  It was the WHOLE family plus sig-Os. SUCH a fun trip. Another Mai Tai for the little man? And some more Lava Flows for mama, please!  Pineapple is the ISH people.  In liquid or solid form. P was fawned over endlessly for days on days plus he got to play in the pool so I think he had a good time (despite the two – three? – molars working their way through his gums… Read more >

Applegate is the best

Applegate is a company who clearly prioritizes eliminating cross-contamination of allergens as evidenced by this statement: “Every state-of-the-art policy and procedure is adhered to strictly to prevent cross-contamination. My highlights: week 30

A quickie since I’m busy packing… I requested a flag to be flown over the Capitol in DC in honor of us buying our home, and on July 9th, it was!  Now we have the exact flag to hang proudly here in Davis.  Pretty cool in my opinion. This week was a teething doozy.  Fortunately P figured out straws well enough for smoothies to fill in the nutritional void because he was NOT having it with solids.  At all. My first pickling experience went so well I decided to do another batch.  This time I pickled… Read more >

What I Ate

Going back to the old school “what I ate in a day” style posting for the day because I took photos of it all!  And why not! First things first, iced coffee.  I use the previous day’s (leftover) coffee and add coconut sugar (melted in warm water) and almond milk.  Then I toss in some ice and hit the road.  Off on a walk with my little man.  We have a few different route options but his favorite, of course, is the one that passes the farms with a horse and goats.  They are a few blocks apart,… Read more >

A true story about their sausages

I discovered True Story sausages at Costco right after we re-introduced meat into our diet and thought they sounded like a great company with some great products. You can read the package above, but the clean ingredients had me sold and the economics were pretty stellar too (Costco sells them in 3 individual packs of 4 – we store the extras in the freezer). In winter I used them in stews but P couldn’t really gnaw on them with his little nubbins of teeth.  Now he’s a full on machine with his molars doing their thang, so naturally,… Read more >
