A week in Idaho

Final family vacay of the summer! Even though it felt like we JUST got back from Hawaii, we hopped back on a (very small) plane to spend the week in McCall and then Boise with Kyle’s family.  Here are some highlights: Suited up and ready to go. If only life always involved diggers.  His practically does… Lunch mish mash salad that I loved so much I had 3 times in a row.  Avo + mustard + mayo = strange but good. Baby selfie. Delicious.  Tasted much darker than 55% cocoa. They had the first book in the cabin…how could I… Read more >

Vegetables in pasta and juice

This week’s favorites included lunches like this and juices like that. All I wanted was vegetables.  As many as I could fit into each meal. I made a huge vat of pasta with veggies, hemp seeds, and balsamic dressing which lasted a few days.  I added avo and greens to my serving a few days to make it seem new but really it was so good I could have eaten it far more days than it lasted.  I don’t think they make bigger tupperware, but if they do I should track it down so I… Read more >

The weekly menu

I told you it was going to be a plant based week after our indulgent vacation and I meant it!  P is also teething and has no appetite for meat so why bother buying and cooking it for anyone? On our first night back home, I threw this together.  Our fridge was practically empty except for the 400 tomatoes.  And I picked several more pints that ripened while… Read more >

Hawaii photos

Indulge me as I relive our vacation through the few iPhone pics I got. Up in the clouds. Special Tim Tams.  Yummm.   Dinner at Leilani’s.  Fish (monchong I think?) and shrimp with coconut black rice and bok choy. Auntie L train. My lunch 75% of the days there.  Papaya seed dressing is where it’s at. Some naps were harder to get out of him. But I don’t mind a snuggle session one bit. Mango fizzy something or other (with booze). The Ka’anapali breakfast.  So. Much. Food.   More drank, more mama naps. More fries…. Read more >

My highlights: week 31

Long time!  We ditched the mainland for a family vacay in Hawaii this past week to celebrate my dad’s 60th birthday.  It was the WHOLE family plus sig-Os. SUCH a fun trip. Another Mai Tai for the little man? And some more Lava Flows for mama, please!  Pineapple is the ISH people.  In liquid or solid form. P was fawned over endlessly for days on days plus he got to play in the pool so I think he had a good time (despite the two – three? – molars working their way through his gums… Read more >
