What I Ate

Shall I try to make this a regular thing?  I think I might.  Maybe I’ll do the kids’ meals every once in a while. They eat pretty similar to me, with the exception of lunch.  They probably wouldn’t find my kale repetition as delicious. Here’s a hunk of banana bread with cashew butter to start the day. My favorite miso dressing is back at Costco!!  It has been gone for a couple of months, and I’ve been dying for them to get it back again.  The employees told me they sometimes just stop carrying things for a bit… Read more >

What I Ate

Remember the WIAW days of blogging?  That style really fell out of favor didn’t it now…or maybe everyone realized how hard it is to keep up with and decided to embrace a new approach.  Those “what I ate” style posts are my favorites to read though! Look at this disaster!  Took me a day to get back my waffle mojo… See, here’s my do-over a couple days later… Much better. Anyway, on to lunch.  I made a salad, obviously. Kale, broccoli slaw, cabbage, avocado, poppyseed dressing, dried cranberries, pepitas, macadamia nuts, and baby carrots.  The salad of my… Read more >

Just like old times, but with kids

I want to try to take better care of myself in 2017, but I never made any concrete (resolution style) plan.  Still, I feel like I’m doing a good job so far.  To be clear, I was starting from a pretty good place. Kyle is SUPER supportive of letting me work out every single morning and I am not one of those people who can go without showering, so at the very least, by 7:30 am, I have gotten a good sweat on and then washed myself clean to start the day fresh.  But that’s physical stuff.  And… Read more >

Kale bowls

This Sprouted Kitchen recipe for spicy butternut squash and kale chopped salad was a fun twist on some of my favorite ingredients.  Kyle loved it.  P thought it was all fine, but he doesn’t like butternut squash much so, you know.  V, who usually devours butternut squash as fast as I can get it on her plate, was NOT into the seasonings on it at all and required mega chip bribery to get through the meal.  She happily ate all the kale she could get her hands on though, which is a change, so that was a… Read more >

AAG baking

I’ve cooked so many things from Danielle Walker’s first cookbook, Against All Grain, and they’ve all been so stellar.  If you have her other cookbooks, tell me which recipes are your favorites?  Now that P tolerates everything but dairy and peanuts, I find myself cooking from allergy cookbooks far less often.  That said, Danielle is SCD so many of her recipes are fodmaps friendly so I may be more likely to invest.  Maybe I should rent it from the library first…but if you have an opinion one way or the other please share! Here is her “world… Read more >
