Banana bake

I’ll post this now, because I promised I would, but I may edit and re-post it later if I can tweak it to make it even better. I’ve tried several versions, and they all work, but it’s just about getting it perfect at this point. Here it is fresh out of the oven, the night before… And then I warm it and nut butter it (new verb?) and dig in the next morning.  Preferably after they’ve eaten and I’ve cleaned the kitchen and I can sit in peace and tidiness. The inside is more cakey… Read more >

What I Ate

Oops!  This post got buried in drafts somehow.  I don’t even know when it is from!  Imagine that…I wrote a post and then forgot about it…after months (years?) of barely getting a post up over the span of a week, I’m now so prolific that I’m losing track of them. 😉 So good news guys!  I wrote the recipe down (and it turned out!) for this banana thang, so I’ll post it in the next few days.  I swear I have a curse where I make things better when I don’t measure…and then I feel… Read more >

SB weekend

Brusha brusha brushaaaa. Kyle and I were trying to plan a date night this weekend because he’s going out of town all next week (so he’d be gone for Valentine’s Day, if we celebrated it).  The babysitter we used twice last year hasn’t been available lately, so we are back to square one with babysitter hunting. Sigh. Which means we didn’t get a date night.  Instead, we decided to do a family breakfast.  Not quite the same, but still a meal out, so that’s fun and different! We went to Crepeville as soon as we had worked out and showered…. Read more >

T25

Prior to October I was doing the same exercise regime I had been for the past couple of years. That was running, cycling, and Jillian Michaels’ workout DVDs.  And it was working great, so I don’t have any impressive weight loss story to accompany this post.  But I was a little bored.  I wrote it off as being tired (because what parent working out at 6 am isn’t exhausted?!), but in hindsight, I think I just needed a change up. Cardio is my favorite, so if I could just run and cycle every day, that would be… Read more >

What we ate

This was Thursday!  This week has gone on forever and ever.  I felt like Tuesday should have been Friday, so that was depressing. And then the rain returned and that’s just blah blah blahhhhh… Pancakes for breakfast! This is the norm. I make the batter the night before with 1 banana, 1 egg, canola oil, flax meal, flour, salt, baking powder, and then however much milk to get the right consistency. I asked for this griddle for my birthday for this exact reason. So much faster than a pan.  I never clean it or take… Read more >
