WWA (again)

Can I just start using the WWA abbrev for “what we ate”?  Seems an easy swap.  Continuing the catch up posts… I sliced up a few pieces of this grain free bread with Earth Balance for breakfast time. More pancakes for my minis. They ate sooooo slowly, I baked chocolate mini muffins for P’s classmates while they finished up. There are 18 in his class, but I made a bunch of extras to freeze and have on hand for future birthday parties.  He picked out chocolate cupcakes for his birthday treat, but blueberry cake for his… Read more >

What We Ate

Uhh, I finally got to catch up on some writing this evening (I did heaps of gardening this weekend because it was finally sunny!! and therefore didn’t have much computer time), so I’m going to be sharing a bunch of these from last week now.  It’s not too too late, right? Good.  Hopefully you aren’t sick of the “what I ate” style posts yet?  If you are don’t tell me, ha.  Just kidding, you can say whatever you want.  🙂 Pancakes and blueberries for them, and a GF blueberry scone for me. Farewell Whole Foods

This is such sad news.  Our Davis Whole Foods is closing.  Today.  The news broke on Wednesday and it really put me in a funk.  I mean, there were other factors already at play (the rain, Elizabeth Warren’s silencing, etc) but UGH.  Obviously I will be fine – I’m sure I can find stuff at either the co-op or online at Thrive Market (which is probably the root of the issue) – but it’s still a sad situation.  If WF can’t survive in Davis, then what’s the future of the store like?  I think they… Read more >

Chocolate post!

Warning: if you haven’t had anything sweet recently, this post may cause drooling. Let’s start off with a favorite. TCHO is just such good chocolate, both in quality and flavor.  Some bean to bar chocolate is too rough for my liking, but this stuff is stellar.  It’s organic and fair trade too.  It went on sale a month back and I bought the max (8) that they allowed and have been slowly opening them.  The sea salt and almond is my favorite so far.  The cappuccino is also fantastic if you like coffee flavored chocolate…. The last grapes

I’ve been putting off writing this post because there’s a sense of closure that comes with it. In December, we bottled the last of my grandpa’s grapes. [This is a side project that my dad and his friend do – not the Zin that is sold in stores that the vineyard grapes usually go to] As tricky as it is bringing two toddlers to a garage full of equipment for bottling wine, I really wanted them to have some memories of this.  P got to go to the vineyard a few times, but V only… Read more >
