Recipe for awesome

I never thought I was the kind of person who liked group workouts (back when I belonged to a gym in NYC I had ZERO interest in the boot camps or group classes), but then I started stroller strides and realized maybe I was wrong.  I’ve now taken almost a month off of SS due to my foot’s arch issues, which is how I came to realize how much I miss the motivation that comes with exercising with others.  I can only push myself so many days of the week…but when I’m around other people,… Read more >

A weekly kids meal plan

A few people have been asking for posts about what I feed my mini hippies…and since I already create meal plans for the whole family, I figured I may as well share the portion that pertains to the kids here in a separate post.  I’ll offer prep tips if you want to be extra on top of it, but most of the lunches are things you can put together with minimal thought beforehand. Sunday: prep/shopping go shopping chop and tupperware cucumber, bell peppers, carrots cook beans, lentils roast chickpeas Random notes: This week wasn’t too… Read more >

Kru birthday

We started celebrating a little early… It’s my best friend’s birthday! Everyone and their mother has been saying how good Kru is and we finally made it! I’m not one to do omakase, but nearly everything on the menu caught my eye, so I’d definitely consider it in the future.  You get to sit at the bar and watch them!  Anyway, we ordered off the menu… And that’s not even the sushi side!! Can you believe we didn’t even end up getting sushi!?!  For reals, this place is amazing.  I am 100% going back.  Spoiler… Read more >

Meals out of order

I have a new breakfast thing that has me excited.  Finally. It involves a lot of nut butter and granola. There was probably over 1/4 cup of almond butter left in this jar which is a bit much, but not unusual for me.  I was trying to limit my nuts for a while (they are supposedly inflammatory) but it’s TOO HARD!!  I love nuts so much and I want them in every meal.  Anyway, so what I did was add some hot water to the almond butter (like 1-2 tbsp) and then stirred it all… Read more >

C is for (peanut butter) cookie

Kid breakfast on the left, mom breakfast on the right. Another winner from Sugar Plum Bakery (via Temple coffee roasters).  This was the walnut zucchini (also vegan and GF) and just as good as the pumpkin pecan. The kids’ breakfast was a tapioca “pudding” which was met with mixed reviews.  I’ve made them tapioca pudding before and they were meh on it then, but it’s been a while and I thought I’d retry it.  This time P liked it and V didn’t.  50% is failing but I’m ok with that because it’s still progress!  I… Read more >
